Sorry Steve. I just had this crappy video camera that I was only able to do this.
I have never see one like this and although could be some sort of "California" version a dealer put out, something says this is factory. Anyways, a very different/rare Datsun.

I actually owned a 1980 Datsun boxer like this - my stripes were charcoal and light grey. The bed was metal and the fenders fiberglass, and my back window was a tinted plastic bubble. I believe it was a kit that a dealership did in southern california - I was told they made 250 trucks like this.

Very cool! 8-) I vaguely remember them from my days in The Datsun service department.
Beyond any hope for intervention

That was a bed kit you could buy back in the late 70s early 80s to convert a mini-truck to a step side. I always thought it looked good, but never was interested in doing it myself.

There was a bed and decal option that was offered for 2-3 years. Most of them came out of CA. The bed was steel and the fenders fiberglass. mine had a tinted acrylic bubble out back window also. I eventually removed the decals and euro'd mine out white, with a 3" lowering kit, and Yoko 50's. It handled GREAT and still got 35 miles to the gallon!

Here it is, after painted and lowered. Those were the original rims, but were metallic gold in the center (originally). It had a full bumper as well, but I pulled that off. Bed came zolotone Black.

I would love to find one again.

My goal was a white tonneau across the bed, hard top convertible, and scissor lift on the bed. I was just short funds. That truck went everywhere in California... skiing in winter, all over Southern California skim boarding, and into Mexico! 35 mpg. Blew the head gasket twice, so figured it was time to go to a more modern car...
