Thanks Esteban, that does help clear things up. The screw on type fitting is probably indicating the one on the distributor itself as shown in plateaucal's picture. David should still have the set of points that came with the distributor, it they were included.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Thanks to all,
Yes I have the original air cleaner and it had two inlet ports with nothing on them.

Eddy did have a lot of trouble getting specified Petronix 1763LS kit to fit. He had to work around a few things. He did connect an air vent line to the block.

He also pointed out the unknown air ports. When I get back I will take better pictures of install.

Thank you again and it does purr nicely as is.

Greetings Gearheads and Patrollees Worldwide,

Eddy the Eagle has surveyed the reason for the vent lines running from the water proof distributor to the air filter housing.

They are to keep the electronics or points dry and reduce the potential of corrosion inside the distributor.

Also, on an unrelated topic he noted since these old motors don't have a PVC valve they discharge extra extra valve pressure through the oil filler cap...so better make sure you have an old style oil filler cap or you will blow your valve seals.

Patrolling with dry distributor internal,
