Solid 66 Likely for Sale Late Spring 2020

Patrols for sale

Postby L60Boerne » Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:40 am

Greetings Patrollers Worldwide,

I will take delivery of this 66 Patrol in late March. It will arrive with the hard top. I will be the 3rd owner after 10 years of occasional neighborhood drives near Chandler AZ.

It is described as rust free, no leaks, strong and tight steering.

I have the parts and plan to install better dash gauges and dash light, plus badges as needed.

The door frames have cut but the fenders have not.

I found another 66 I prefer. I don't need this one. If interested send me a PM. It can be ready sooner but in "as is" condition.

Patrolling when possible,
L60Boerne

Great David!

After looking at the picture, the doors are not cut. The top portion is a separate piece in older Patrols. Maybe the owner has them laying somewhere.

Look again, Esteban... This Patrol has the late-66/67 style doors. I think the tops of the door frames have probably been chopped off

and, it looks like the rear fenders have been cut as well...

Thank you both.

The seller confirmed no sheet metal has been cut. The fender rubber is bolted on. The serial #, with help from RiverPatrol, also confirms it is a very late model 66, though the title shows it was sold in June of 66 and shipped to Eugene, OR. The original owner kept it until his death 10 years ago. He also had two vintage Land Rovers.

Since his death it has been in a garage in AZ.

So the door frames are removable?

Yes, the frame around the window on the doors is removable.

Greetings Patrollees,

Just a few interior pics. Unless something else gets in the way the exterior will be painted vintage blue in late March. The gauges will be replaced with better ones, same with dash light. Hopefully River patrol has the choke knob and cable as well. I already have the missing badges.

I am wondering if my 65 wiper arms will fit. They look like they will based on the motors still in place.

This Patrol is planned to be the Blue Patrol following my 63 white Patrol while Santa's Sleigh will be the tip of spear in our Presentation of colors for our LC 4th Parade.

I hope Plateaucal comes over again to lead our Patrol with his really nice one that makes the Nissan Patrol look real good.

Maybe Rob or Coyote can come up too? Others?

Patrolling for Parts...again,

Yes, I retract my earlier observation.. The higher top line of the doors, and the door handle style definitely say Late 66/67 style doors, but as Leslie and Esteban pointed out- The upper frames may have simply been unbolted. (never go against the gurus... :ugeek: )

I do still wonder if the rear fenders have been rounded... maybe the rubber fender guards just cover the angles on the fender openings

But looks like a solid truck, and being a long time single owner vehicle is definitley a plus...

Greetings Patrollees worldwide,

RiverPatrol has once again highlighted yet another nuanced nugget of nuts and bolts. So I have this situation after reviewing my spreadsheet od spares.

Issue: I need new speedometers for both a 65 and a 66 with post 66 cable orientation. 50Car and RiverPatrol have helped me out with a speedometer gauge of each vintage, plus the likely worse condition ones with cables I already have in inventory.

RiverPatrol is pulling parts for this 66 at this time. So that is sorted. So here in my question.

She has already educated me so I understand the input connection from the cable to the gauge changed in 66. So the cable must match the gauge. Got it. But....is the input cable connection down in the motor bay the same for both year models? If so, then can I use a cable and speedo from the post mid 66 configuration and plug it into a 65 or 63 axle if I have both the cable and gauge mated?

or

Can I use a matching 65 cable and speedometer and plug it into a post mid 66 axle?

Any advice of this would sure be appreciated. I just need to understand what I have for the future because after I receive my next box of parts from RiverPatrol with more gauges and cableI will have enough for a lifetime. I just need to know what I have and how I can mix and match if needed.

Patrolling for nuggets of knowledge,

As far as I recall the transmission end of the speedo cable did not change. The only change down there was the location of where the cable connected to the trans. So yes, a later combination would work on an earlier vehicle and vise versa.
