Once I figured it out I had to start over on all the parts and this is what I'm left with.

Matt, what powder coating system are you using? I'm looking at some of the low cost 'home' systems for powder coating small parts and have been researching quite a bit. Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated. :)

I have the cheap harbor freight gun and it works Good once you get your air pressure right. The Eastwood gun is better from what I hear but it's 100 bucks more. I think the next step in guns is 800 bucks To 3k, I'd go cheap and see if you enjoy it, then spend the money on a gun . The most important thing you need is a good air compressor and sand blaster. The parts have to be prepared well or it looks like crap. I had to reblast the glove compartment 2 times because I haven't quite figured it out.

This is what I have learned so far
1. Rubber gloves are a must after you sand blast don't handle the part unless you have gloves
2. Do not wipe if down with a rag after sandblasting blow it off with air and coat it. Powder coating lint looks like crap
3. 400 degree parts stay hot for a while use leather gloves

Thanks Matt, good info. I'm considering the Harbor Freight gun too. I figure with a 25% off coupon its reasonable enough to take a chance on. One comparative side-by-side test actually liked the HF gun better because of the interchangeable tips (or whatever they are called) that disperse the powder.

What are you using for an oven?

Thanks for posting these detailed pictures of your progress. It will be very fun to watch and certainly, a reference for many.

By the way, your pictures uploaded by the Tapatalk app, do not show on the web browser (tried a couple of them and on two machines) Was able to look at them at the app in my phone. This is something for the Admins to look into, because a lot of members might end up missing the pictures. I'm sure this is an issue with Tapatalk and not with the way you upload. Probably a way into forcing people to the app (not a fan of this app except the convenience out in the field)

Tapatalk isn't resizing the pics to fit here. Not much I can do about that. It won't be a problem if I ever get around to upgrading the forum.
Beyond any hope for intervention
