Ok Ms RiverPatrol....this is your ticket. I'll pick you up in the nearest Airport that fits your schedule. You will be our guest until you are safely returned by the survivors.

Tip ....LAX to Montrose is about $150 on Allegiant....

Please consider coming out, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to repay you in some small way. Plateaucal and I have already made some great memories and I think done some other things we can't remember.

You only get so many trips around the sun.....better not waste them.

August would be best as Plateaucal slows down then and I'll be caught up from a lost July.

You call...we will haul.

The best part is we will have someone that actually knows how to drive and how to fix these old beasts.

I'm in. Should we post it in "Out and About"? My schedule is flexible after mid July or so. Labor day would be ideal.

Also, for the scaredy cats out there; From Lake City to Engineers pass is actually pretty easy. We did the this route in a two-wheel drive Ford Explorer all the way into Ouray.

Greetings Nuance Savvy Nissan Ninjas Worldwide,

Eddy the Eagle toils on. Just three issues remain until the Labor Day ascent of Engineer's Pass outside Lake City where this Patrol will top out at 13,000 ft along with Plateucal's pristine 67, Bkippen driving, peddling/pushing Presidio Patrol, the doorless 65.Though still un-committed, RiverPatrol is thinking about it too. I just wish I could get Santa's Sleigh up there, but so far no good plan yet.

a). Fluid Leak from Steering Box
b). Very Loose Steering
c). Hand Throttle Installation

With drag link springs and parts from mad4hws and a hand throttle from Plateaucal Eddy the Eagle is working overtime.

First, if my drag link assembly is stock, and I think it is, Nissan must have changed it sometime between 63 and 67. The springs received were much too large to fit into spring cavity....the fully compressed springs were about 1/2" long and the hole it goes into is 1/2" deep. However, because Don sent me the surrounding parts Eddy was about to machine some of the parts which permitted the driver side spring to be inserted. The passenger side spring cavity was just too small to work with. Additionally he polished and sanded the steering box receiver ball back to almost round. Then he re-aligned the wheels.

Second, the steering box seal isn't quite figured out but the drip in minimal now.

Lastly, Plateucal's hand throttle will arrive today. Eddy will fabricate the missing part needed for the assembly I bought from RMP & O's inventory when he was closing down years ago. Once he eyeballs the missing piece he can make two more so we don't have that problem again with the other Patrols. My use of the hand throttle is actually very important, but my use of the Patrol is not typical and I can see how for most everyone else they would not be so important.

Eddy is excited for his progress and looks forward to getting it out of his shop.

Thank you all for your parts, support and advice,

L60Boerne

Greetings to all those who know what I don't,

My steering box on this Patrol (63) is leaking fluid on my driveway. I hate that. I would gladly replace the steering box if there is a known drop in replacement. On the other hand... I would have Eddy replace the seals if there is a known seal package available.

Any thoughts or advice?

Patrolling with one fixed piece at a time,
