Re: Disk Brakes

Builds, refurbishments, restorations, upgrades

Finally have this Patrol up and running. The brakes seem to be working good but I have only tested them from 30 mph. Once she's street legal I will test the brakes on the highway. Special thanks to Jeff @ 50 car and River Patrol for answering all my questions about Patrols.

What's the plan for an emergency brake? I am looking to do something similar to this with mine but had planned on retaining the rear drums so that I could keep the e-brake, or perhaps go with a transfer case brake. I'd like to move to 35s and swap in a 3.3L V6 from a 99+ Frontier/Xterra while retaining the stock axles, but anything taller than 33s would greatly benefit from an upgraded brake system.

Also, did you upgrade the master as well?

*just realized the transfer case I referenced is driver's side drop, whereas our front axle is on the passenger's side. So that engine is out.

This looks awesome! Did you keep dimensions/specs? I totally need to do this ASAP. My Troll has been incapacitated for years because of no brakes.

Hopefully some more details on this conversion will come to light. Brackets look very simple to duplicate, and we know where the rotors and calipers came from.

exactly my thoughts. I have access to machine shop also, so if I can get dimensions of brackets, I can easily have them made. maybe even multiple sets...
