Thank you all, my mechanic at Liar's Lair is on the electrical snafu.

In the meantime, a few more pics from Big Bend.

Santa's Sleigh - Recovery Vehicle - Liar'sLair

I can report that while making a game drive yesterday in the Chicom the motor coughed so since the fuel gauge doesn't work I quickly turned it off and we gathered our rifles and aiming fluid and walked back.

We grabbed a Jerry can full of fuel and raced the sunset to the stranded Chicom.

Turns out it just a bit of air in the line. But Santa's Sleigh was at the ready.

Of the three, Eddy the Eagle really did a great job on this one. It runs wonderfully.

Just a note to say Santa's Sleigh is in Eddy the Eagle's clandestine workshop. The final stages of its transformation is underway. The last mods/fixes will be:

a). Plateaucal sent me his spare set of beefed up (one extra leaf) front leaf springs...it needs those really bad..I'm begining to think a wench requires beefed up leaf springs.
b). 2896RAL will soon draw up a sketch of the combo sheet metal storage box and cup holder that will mount to the leading edge of the tub and rest behind the front seats. I hoping to get a first aid kit in there, some gloves and a tool or two. The box will be maybe 30-40% larger than the tool box but about the same shape, then some wings with one or two cup holders to either side.Cup holders! Yes!
Actually all three Patrols will get those...I can't wait.
c). Eddy will fabricate connection for the second row shooting seat. It is being recovered to black to match the front seats this week.
d). That pesky electrical short is getting sorted...if possible.
e). Eddy is attaching a couple of extraction points on the front bumper...maybe the back too so it will be easier to trailer.

It will not be finished because after a few months of field testing we will add a a combo roll bar shooting platform...but that is down the road.

Sounds like it will be well utilized once it's done. And with that color it certainly won't get lost in the fog.

Can't wait to see it. Properly configured, the roll bar will make a good shooting rest. I still think painting the Patrol to look like a Hereford is a really good idea; a real stealth hunting rig. You could even install plywood forms shaped like a cows head on the front fenders. If it worked for Daktari..... :D

Plateaucal.....you know that would work! If I get fired up the Chicom would be the one because I like it less.

Now if you will come back down here ...I'll bring the plywood, tools and paint...if you will bring the brains.

We could make it like a saddlebag that could be lifted off and on.

It absolutely would work.
