Greetings Patrol Universe,

Today, we had a film crew out to The Lair filming a spring turkey hunt. Part of the show was an interview with me on local Indian history of the ranch.

The plan was for me to drive up in Santa's Sleigh.

Well, sad to report the NAPA carb Eddy the Eagle put on isn't reliable. It appears the needle valve sticks starving the motor.....

So at midnight we had to leave it in the field after we used it's winch to recover a stuck 4x4.

I have four certified mechanics with me, three of which are engineers. We will get it running and leave it at a shop in town. It needs Plateaucal's leaf springs installed anyway.

Might go back to a Rochester.

More as the day unfolds....

Well, it looks good anyway.

Patrollees... sometimes it just goes like this......

But Santa's Sleigh was about to recover one Ford F250 4 x 4 at midnight before the needle value really stuck for good. Chinese NAPA carb is getting one more chance.

It needed to go to the shop anyway to install Plateaucal's leaf springs and a manual throttle among two or three other little fixes..

Patrolling with a marked limp today,

Since we towed the sleigh back to Santa's workshop it has been built back better than the Bionic Man.

When the sleigh treds back on the hollowed Lair soil it will roll the the following fixes:

a). Manual Throttle from Matt McTree. I'm having a secondary retaining bracket made so it can be pulled out and "set" so it will work like a slow speed cruise control.
b). New Fuel Pump from Forklift (Scott thinks it was a failing fuel pump more than a stuck valve needle)
c). New Coil Over Shocks, the beefed up leaf springs Plateaucal so graciously shipped me were too beefy, they raised the front end 2". I'm all about overkill but in this case I think shocks will fix the problem.
d). Fresh oil in both axle housings; front was said to have a molasses look to it while the rear lacked any at all. It was described as dusty.
e). Transmission Fluid was a bit low
f). New Electrical Cut Off Selector Switch.

Ok, I think that is it for now,

Should be no need for the secondary bracket on the manual throttle. Simply set the desired throttle position and turn the knob clockwise to lock it in place. Counterclockwise to release.

Thank you, That is the way the old Willys worked. I wondered why Nissan didn't have the same feature. I did notice that effect when field testing the one Eddy just installed on CCV5 but I thought it was just sticking.
Big thanks.

Greetings,

This Patrol will not run after warm. It runs progressively shorter and shorter from 10 mins running to running for a few seconds. It dies without sputtering.

Resource info:
New fuel line, tank, filter and pump
New Petronics
Original waterproof distributor
New NAPA carb
It runs perfectly until stops without sputter then will not restart until sitting 5 mins.

Both of my mechanics are stumped. It seems heat related to me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Vapor lock? Check the carb. when this happens to see if the accelerator pump will squirt gas. Try it a few times. Did any of the new gas lines get run too close to then engine? Next check spark with a spare plug. Hook up the plug and ground the side on the block. Is spark good? Did you ever hook up the ventilation lines to the distributor? They are there for a reason.

Choke stuck closed?

Will it restart and run briefly each time or does it eventually just die and not start at all.

Does it run smooth when it is running?

A loose wire to the distributor? Check volts to Petronix.
