This is the tank sealer kit I got:

I looked up reviews and it seems to be pretty good stuff. We shall see how it works.

just a little update: the tank is sealed, no leaks! and it holds about 22 gallons. much more than the last tank!

I also ordered an overdrive unit for the transfer case, so will be putting that in next.

The overdrive unit has arrived, but now I have a tractor project on my hands....it never ends! Will definitely update the thread with info and pics once I get started on the overdrive install. I believe I will have to re-make the metal trans cover in the patrol to allow more room for the extra shifter and linkage needed...

Hey all, i havent forgotten about you. The OD is still sitting on my workbench waiting to be put in, but i have loads of other stuff going on lately. I think once my new house is built, is when I'll do the OD installation. Barndominium is currently in progress :D

I have also been thinking...are there any companies out there that can make custom ring and pinion gears? Id be more than happy to send off my gears to a company for them to check out, so i can get some new gears made for a lower ratio... this would be in the interest of not having to swap my entire driveline just to change axle ratio.

hello everyone! Yes I do still exist, just have been VERY busy with life lately, and not doing much on the Patrol. I have finally moved into my new house, the barndominium, so I was able to get the Overdrive unit on the Dana 18! I made a video for your viewing pleasure, if you are bored.

Check it out!

I am trying to make more videos of the stuff that I do, I find some of the things pretty unique (like an LS swapped G60 patrol?). Keep on the lookout for more stuff in the future, hopefully!

Great video! You really have it glued together just right. If you ever time time to a couple more sets of those shifter boot retailers please let me know.

Now you hit on another really important detail. Your transfer case has a Rearward PTO output port. I could really make use of that. Where could I find a transfer case like that?

Patrolling with passion,

Thank you!

Not sure if you have been following the whole build on my Patrol, but it is a very custom setup. LS engine, with a Muncie SM465 transmission, and a Dana 18 transfer case. This transfer case is not a "bolt on" for a Patrol drivetrain, and the shift boot retainers wont work for stock Patrol stuff.

Fun fact: the transmission also has 2 PTO ports on it, 1 on each side!

Ok that makes more sense and yes I do get lost in the details. Our standard issue Patrol transfer case should have front and rear output shaft ports but I’ve never seen a rear port.

I hope you don’t hurt yourself with that beast when it is done.

Thanks again,

The rear PTO port is actually the round cover at the top of the transfer case. Please take a look at the following parts diagram:
