PatrolP1 Patrol Build Begins

Builds, refurbishments, restorations, upgrades

That sucks :( can't say I'm surprised though - my one experience using a transporter resulted in them not even picking the vehicle up by the agreed date despite the paid deposit, the PO about to leave on holiday and me taking a late flight and driving 19 hours straight to bring the car home.

On a more positive note - it didn't sour what ended up being the perfect car for us :D hope it ends up all smiles for you too - good luck !

Cheers,
D

Greetings,
Just a note to say Punkin P1 arrived today at 3:15 PM. It runs, shifts and brakes like a new mosheeen   . Shannon and I will spend the winter sanding, filling and then painting it. If it didn't need paint I'd leave it as is but it needs painting.

The Patrol was always going to come back to life as RiverPatrol was going to make sure of that, and she did a great job of overseeing the mechanical restoration before it shipped. She is a Nissan Ninja for sure.

Thank you for all your efforts. I'll try to finish it by spring...well I'm certain I will.

Greetings Patrollees Worldwide,

P1 Patrol, previously Punkin will be completely finished with it mechanical transition to Pinto Patrol today. Over the year RiverPatrol   and I have rebuilt this mosheen it has gone though quit a bit of rehab. Here is a quick review, though I'm sure I'm missing several important upgrades.

Pinto Patrol will never have a top. Pinto horses are multi colored, as is Pinto, so it seemed to fit. I have a paint code for a smokey cheddar color I really like. Paint remains a question mark. You can only get real patina once.

Mechanical
- Rebuilt VC 42 carb (thank you Rob Moore)
- New Fuel Lines
- Rebuilt Fuel Pump
- Re-cored Radiator & Hoses
- Removed and Cleaned Fuel Tank
- Valve Adjustment
- Upgrade to Electronic Ignition (thank you RiverPatrol)
- New Spark Plugs
- Upgrade to Alternator (though OC Customs installed upside down  :o )
- New Fan Belt
- Upgrade to Wilwood Dual Reservoir Master Brake Cylinder and lines and Wheel Cylinders
- Replacement & Rebuilt Front Axle
- Rebuilt Front Swivel Bearings
- Fresh Oil in Differentials and Seals
- Re-Arced Leaf Springs, with 2" Lift
- New Shocks

Lights
- All OEM Lights and Blinkers Operational (thanks RiverPatrol)
- Cyclops LED installed behind and through front bumper :D

Body & Interior
- New Interior Door Panels
- Recovered Seats
- Replacement Front Bumper with 2" Receiver for Winch :violin: Long Sad Story for the OEM Bumper, at present an FJ bumper is installed but Eddy is trying to piece together the OEM bumper he cut up.
- Upper Door Framed Cut to Clean up the Lines
- New Shifter Boots and Retainers
- New OEM Floormats from Columbia
- New Hood/Windsheild Bumpers

Remaining Question Marks
- Does Water Pump Need Replacing?
- Way Old Tires but they Look Great so the 06 Rumble will Test Them
- Patrol Rear Seats are Recovered but May or May Not go Back in

So this is all prep for the best field test in Texas on the 06 with hill climbs and very rugged trails in its immediate future.

Once I pick it up and drop off the Cummins Gen 1 Dodge W350 for a bumper and light package later today I'll send some pictures.

If the water pump isn’t leaking or noisy, run it until it is.

P1 Pinto Patrol is at 98% mechanically but it doesn’t look much different than before. The only remaining items are snaps to hold down the new OEM floor mats and a quick connect for the winch. It drives great, the best of them all by a long shot and my 63 sets a pretty high bar.

After a few days around town it will be on it way to a real field test next weekend on the 06 Ranch.

Pictures Saturday if I can remember how to upload them.

This makes me proud. I knew this Patrol was perfect for you, I think you were a little unsure though.

It doesn’t look all that finished but it mostly is. I’m still debating the paint. I’ll get a couple of gauges from Indonesia in a few weeks so I can pull these out and send the originals off for reconditioning. That will take a year but it will be worth it.

It does look sharp! Some polish would make that dash shine. The seats look good.
