Does the fuel tank needs to be earthed?

I'm putting in a second non-standard fuel tank and plan to put rubber strips over the metal brackets to reduce rubbing. Therefore it won't be earthed.

Should I earth it?
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

The sending unit already is connected to earth by means of one of the two wires that come to it, so in theory you don't need to have the fuel tank earthed. However, it's good practice. I've notice on mine that there's a grounding connection at one of the mounting bolts for the fuel tank.

What mounts to the two threaded holes on the bulkhead (noted by the yellow circles)?

Wow, not much thread surface area or force dissipation surface to prevent the bulkhead metal from ripping. Any suggestions on reinforcing the fastener?
Thanks,
Keith

You could make a doubler, which would just be another piece of sheet metal either the same thickness or thicker to add around the nut. It would need to be welded to the surrounding sheet metal and the nut. Seeing as how the nut is welded into place I'm not sure of any other option.

It's actually reinforced there and bolts are welded to the bulkhead, it's not just thin metal thread depth. I've never heard or seen of any ripping the bulkhead out, I don't think it's an issue.
