Ds and pass

Bottoms out? Shimmies? Shackles, springs, shocks, steering linkage etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Suspension' category are here.

Hello all, question for my 160series...not sure if 60s are the same?
I ordered a 2" lift kit from Australia and the springs are labeled DS and pass with the ds spring being a good 3/4" higher than pass. And of course these are getting installed in a Columbian LHD. So is this based on driver weight? Or on our drive line being right-centric. Do the alcans etc come like this for 60s?
Cheers
Adam

Hmm interesting. Id be inclined to think it would be for drive-line. They vehicle sits level when no one is in it.

I'm guessing It's not based on Driver weight- I'm guessing It is probably based on the extra torque load that is placed on the right side of the vehicle under acceleration, plus the fact that, (from my understanding) 160 MQ Patrols have longer springs on the right side, regardless of which side the steering wheel is on... so this would lead me to believe that the longer DS springs from your kit should still go on the right side; which for your S. American LHD application , is the passenger side; and the "pass" springs should go on the left hand (driver) side...

Of course, a call to the manufacturer is not a bad idea, just to confirm my suspicions... :handgestures-thumbup:
