Has anybody tried to install a Harbor Freight Electric winch on a patrol?

Sorry I can't comment on that but which one are you looking at?

I'm thinking about one for my G60 and not sure what size one to choose.

Tks.
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

Old thread, but I'm curious about the reliability of HF winches. Did you get one?

The G60 is a lightweight in the 4wd world, a 9500lb winch would be more than adequate unless you've got mates in big 4wds needing rescuing...or you tow a camper or van.

I'm dubious about the cheap and cheerful winches available now too, but if it's only rarely called upon then it shouldn't wear out if it's maintained. A mate has an expensive Warn winch and the only time he needed it the electrics let him down. Having said that, if you plan on using the winch to pull you up really steep stuff where failure has serious consequences you might like the reassurance you and your vehicle are being hauled by a name brand winch and rope/cable !

Cheers,
