Dash Vent Spings

Got rust? Seats, panels, doors, windows, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Body & Interior' category are here.

Postby L60Boerne » Tue May 02, 2017 3:24 pm

Greetings Patrollees,
I need to put 1965 model dash vent springs in my 63 which has huge springs that protrude through where the vent screen would be. Please see the attached.

Questions
A). Will 1965 springs fit into my 63 spring receiver pattern?
B). If so does anyone have a full set of 65 springs?
C). If I can use 65 springs does anyone want my 63 springs?

The springs from your '65 should work. I think the only difference in the springs is the height, to avoid hitting the screen.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Those springs are probably unobtanium new, but are easy to make for someone in that trade. Years ago I had mine duplicated by a local shop in Ecuador. Had to make them twice, since the first batch were too strong, and I was afraid of damaging other components (whimp! I couldn't open  ) Those springs have been in my Patrol for over 15 years by now.

I'm sure that this is something that Raul (member rrodriguezsal) can help us with. There are probably many places in Colombia that can make these springs, and probably make a batch of them since I'm sure other members will want.

I will contact Raul with this idea.

Thank you Esteban. Your solution is perfect. It sounds like they are in short supply.

Raul (rrodriguezsal) said he's going to have the springs made. He had the springs made in the past, and has send them to Kwait.

How many sets should he made?

I will want 1 set.

Thank you so much. It seems there aren't any spares anywhere and it s a fairly rusty location so I'm betting there is a bigger need than we think. I would love to have one set but would buy several more sets if Raul needs to a run.

He did answer the request on May 5th, and was going to look into it and let us know. I think that due to the nature of his work, he's without access to the internet while there. I think he works offshore.

Will send another email today. I think that if I we order 10 sets will be enough for the moment. I'm sure some members will want them.
