you have my interest, but at $2,000 i wouldn't bite. i would propose a group buy and have a guarantee that you can line up at least 10 that would purchase, and the manufacturer might drop his price. still that might not be enough to cover their R & D

That was just a SWAG on the price. I will know more once they get a hands on look at it. I will advise everyone when I know more.

Great! He contacted you as a result of my post on Ratsun. I don't think he is a member here yet, that's why I went there. Let's hope this all pans out.

It is a bit steep, yet I consider how much $$$ I put into a Patrol to make it a daily driver just to have the limitations of the 3-speed have it sit in the garage most of the time. And then it ends up getting replaced with a Jeep or something. The price is still lower than what you can get a Marks 5 speed for, and many people were/are willing to do that. I personally think spending money on an overdrive would be a far better investment than a professional paint job. That's just me, though. :confusion-shrug:

All,

Having had a five speed, they are a pain to install and remove if you change cars, or uses etc.

This option would be quite simple to install and remove, no driveline changes and even if $2k I would be interested. At least I know if I sell a G60 I can easily take it off etc.

Like all things untill we get a cost, definite gearing results, very hard for us to make a decision. But like all large projects, I'm sure that initial price will be based on a minimum order. So it is a catch 22.

Very keen to see where this goes.

Ok folks here my next task for you. The guy says that he needs a Brand Spanking New gear for the transfer case to take measurements from and such to make this OD. I know I'm probably asking for a miracle from the Great Patrol God above but is there a such thing out there?? If so where is it and how much??

Which gear exactly? I'm not following. Good luck on finding NOS transfer case gears.

I'm not sure exactly as I've never seen the inside of that thing. I'm just gonna wait till he gets a look at it I guess and go from there. I was assuming that the gears would be somewhat standard gears that someone still makes  but I haven't the first clue about gearing and such so I would have to defer to someone with a little more knowledge on that!!

I'm sure the guy is talking by the gear that's installed in the transfer case on the output driveshaft from the transmission. His overdrive assembly will include a similar new pinion, attached to the epicyclic gearing reduction system.

Read this article and you'll have a clear idea:

The idea for the Patrol will be the same.

So what are the odds of finding one of those NOS?
