This is probably a tad premature but I'd rather you all get the info first.
Some of you may recall that I had stumbled on a lady not far from me years ago that had a patrol. I met up with her and checked the project out and helped her acquire some parts. As it turned out, her mechanic ended up passing away and the project has been sitting for several years. It is a basket case but she agreed to sell it and because I'm such a glutton for punishment, I agreed.
I don't have all of the specifics but it is a 1969 she brought over from Nebraska. It is in rough shape and all apart but I think I can take the plans I originally had for Plow Patrol and apply them to this unit. I am more than swamped with projects so there will be no action immediately but I'll have it safe and sound in my garage!
These are photos from when I looked at it a few years back but thought I'd share.

I'm happy to have a project and anxious to bring it to life. I'm hoping to modernize this unit and keep it!

Just goes to prove that there truly is no cure for the Patrol sickness. Once it's in your blood, relapse is always possible.

That certainly seems to be the case! I kick myself for getting rid of all of the parts and info I had collected but oh well! I have some time to plan this one out and once my addition is finished, that will be the next project barring anything major. Of course having access to this resource is tremendous. I searched until I found rawml's build. He hasn't chimed in for a bit so I wonder how it is coming along. I've always loved the idea of modernizing a Patrol so I believe that is what will become of this unit.

I visited member Natron037 near York, PA last year, and also a couple of weeks ago, since he sold me his Patrol power train including axles. He's installing an Atlas 6 cyl engine from a Trailblazer. Maybe you should take a look at his work sometime. He's not been too active in the forum, so pictures are not yet available. He has only the engine installed at this time, and he has the flywheel also (this engine was never mated to a manual, so some creative work had to be done). The Atlas engine looks like it was always there in the Patrol bay.

Maybe you should visit him for some outside the box ideas.

Great info and thanks again! He is about 3 hours from me so perhaps I could catch up with him before too long.
Funny he mentioned a few options I've been considering....the Ford 300 and staying Nissan.
Some of you recall I was looking into and had the parts for an Isuzu 4bd2t mated to an NV4500. I still think that would be a nice setup but I'm really not sure how this will turn out. I'd like to change axles so I can get some air lockers and so forth. Lots of different ways to move forward at this point. I did find a possibility this weekend as a friend has a 1995 dodge 2500 HD I could basically have. Dana 60's front and rear. 360 gas engine all with 70k miles. It isn't what I'd love but the axles may be the ticket with some work.

I finally acquired my patrol today. It took a few trips and I've not gone through everything but all appears to be quite original and in decent shape. I'll update as I check things out but here are a few photos.

A few things...
It's a 69, twin window vents with original screen. Split rims, running boards/steps, original service manual...

Looks to be in good shape. Congratulations!

Is the plan to try to install a different engine from the start?
