The post you have all been waiting for...THE ENGINE IS IN!!!

I wanted to line up the shifter with the OEM shifter hole in the floor board cover piece, but I wasnt able to push the engine back any further due to exhaust manifold clearances. At least it left me with a bunch of room to work on stuff at the back of the engine if I ever need to!

These are the exhaust manifold clearances I was talking about. The driver side manifold sits a little further back than passenger side, so it will probably be a super close fit. I think ill try to find a set of low profile block-hugger headers.

Even though I wasnt able to move the engine back any further, all the weight is still over or behind the front axle, so it will work for me!

Congratulations!

You move fast, since I was expecting this update for next week! Your confidence in the process is also great. I would have done a dry test before attempting to rebuild the transmission and transfer cases, but you did the opposite and with better results and less time involved.

Everything looks like they belong in there.

Thanks a lot!

One thing I forgot to mention is I did have to beat the firewall sides in a bit on both sides. The passenger side was basically clear of anything on the inside, so I was able to beat it in a lot. The driver side has the throttle pedal assembly right there though, so I couldnt beat it in as much.

today I was able to add a transfer case mount bracket onto the trans crossmember, as well as run the fuel lines. Tomorrow I should probably get some yard work done though, so not sure if I will get any Patrol work done....hooray for responsibility!

well after I finished some yard work, I got a bit of work done on the patrol. I made the throttle bracket, as well as ran the main power wire. I think since the engine is in, I will start on all the electrical items and get it cranked up!

Look like a tight squeeze with the steering column for the exhaust on the driver's side.

I ordered a set of block hugger manifolds, we shall see how they fit. I think they will be ok though.

last night I was able to finish what I believe to be all the wiring for the rear of the vehicle. taillights, rear interior light, fuel pump, electric speedometer. installed, loomed, and held in place. I also made and installed the hard section of clutch line and bled the clutch. it works great!

i got the exhaust manifolds in! They fit pretty well, but I did have to trim the side of the engine mount on the passenger side a bit. I will probably pull that manifold back off and trim it down some to give me even more clearance. Unfortunately some of the spark plug connectors are a tight fit, so I will order some new plug wires with 90 degree ends on them and that should fix it right up. But at least I can start on my exhaust routing now.

Once again, you move fast with your work. Congratulations.

We knew that the fit was going to be tight, and it seems that you have the minor issues sorted out. I will consider modifying the foot well on the passenger side, and install a removable access panel to help you with the spark plug on that area.
