It looks like the master cylinder has been leaking and that the reason for the paint gone. Are you sure the servo is bad also? Is it not holding any vacuum at all?

Aye, the booster is totally shot.
The brake fluid it ingested when the master cylinder seals failed must have compromised it's inner works.
I had to drain a good pint of brake fluid out of it when I took it apart.
I have now plugged the vacuum pipe with a 1/2" drill bit and I'm back to non servo braking.
At least the engine does not try to stall now when I press the brake pedal.
I'll live with this for a while but will be sending the servo to Hanon Classic Brakes for a rebuild.

I could order a kit and have a go myself but good brakes are very important to me where my daily drive is up and over a 1500' 'mountain'.
My father always told me 'brakes are cheaper than gearboxes', wise words!

Final brush strokes now.
A visit to Phillip who is a master canvas man.
I had sourced the military grade material and he did his magic.
All but 2 original clasps were re-used, Irma took the missing ones!
The white webbing piping is better than the original around the bends.
I have worked with Phillip for over 25yrs in the marine trade, when I asked him to help me with the Patrol he was all over it.
Beautiful work and attention to detail, he respected what I had done and matched the job!
He used all the original bolt ropes which slid easily into the tracks.

It looks like we will have soon-to-be hurricane Jerry on the warpath by Friday so I'm not removing the servo yet.
I have a bolt hole in a warehouse that survived Irma...I'm not taking any chances!
It seems that any small disturbance in the Atlantic can blossom into a hurricane these days.

OK, after a month with 'Big Old Blue' disabled we are finally back in business. Harmon Classic Brakes provided a great service rebuilding the booster. I tried to find another on e bay but settled for sorting out the original. They had the kit, so why not!
I also found a replacement bottom hose. It didn't have the heater hose hole but it was marked where it should go so that was easy with a 5/8" wood bit. Just had to be a bit careful not to go thro to the other side!
With brakes and cooling it was a pleasure to drive around the island.
That was after persuading Max, our one-eyed ginger pirate cat, that his home of late was on the move!
Got to say I'm loving the brakes, I'm even going down steep hills in 2nd chanting 'brakes are cheaper than transmissions' to myself!

So here's the pirate cat!
Other pics show a manual throttle advance system.
It's completely separate to the choke but it has the same knob.
I don't really use it unless I want a fast idle to warm up the engine...anyone else seen this?
