i bet you'll need to somehow change that rear output on the TC and use a CV head there adapted to the OEM driveshaft. The good part is, the patrol driveshaft tube is the correct size to go on a standard CV head for 2" .120 wall tubing. good luck!

Well hopefully something or other will make it work. I could potentially slot out my motor mounts and move the 292 about an inch forward, but that's all. I really don't want to have to go to a V8 as I wager it's going to be a lot more work than I'm expecting. But I'm hoping, by the end of September, to get the thing to a custom drive shaft shop here in Vegas and see what they have to say about it once the new tranny and t/c are in place.

Crazy thought -- Go with a full IRS! Would certainly help deal with the short driveshaft issue while increasing your center clearance!

Or -- that is the world's largest screwdriver!

Actually, I didn't catch that it was a model... I just wanted to show the IRS in a 4x4. It would allow the height between the transfer case and the wheels to be shared over two segments...

Haha...well I'll have to jot that down as a possibility sometime down the line when I have some idea of what I'm doing. At this point, an engine swap would be the biggest automotive ordeal I've undertaken. Maybe in the future I'll know enough to attempt an IRS rig of some kind. Thanks for the input.

Still working on the project! I have dreams of it being done by the end of the summer. The latest video is just me, stuck overseas, talking over some photos of the various issues I've encountered since the last video. Enjoy!

I think a C/V joint on the rear driveshaft is a good idea, regardless of whether you are lifting the truck or not, IMHO.

It would suck to have a custom driveshaft made and balanced, only to find that it still vibrates enough to shake your teeth out. Adding a CV joint would be cheap insurance in that regard.

BTW this is an awesome project... I'll be watching your videos and getting caught up evenings after work this week.

And here's the latest! Even I suspected I had given up on this project, but alas...it continues on.
