Nope- you have to use grade 8 studs- Twice as much clamping power as an equivalent sized bolt

I found the steering drag link that was used on my lifted green Patrol, and I noticed that it looks like it was heated and bent to clear the passenger side spring more easily... I have no use for it, so if you want it badly enough to pay for the shipping, you can have it.... That could at least buy you some time while you design a more robust solution.

So I ordered some new steering linkage boots from new-datsun-parts and put them on last night. Has anyone else ordered these from their website? The new part is different from the OEM part, with the holes off a bit. Take a look at the pics:

You can see, with the boots oriented the same way, the holes on the new boot are lower. I went ahead and installed them anyways, but just want to share my experience with these parts. On the plastic bag that the boots were in, was a part number "P127" I think, if that means anything

Thanks for pointing this out. Maybe they are for models on the wrong side of the road! Seriously.

Better than using the ones for the FJ40 which are smaller in diameter.

Don’t forget to show a picture once installed.

good point, i didnt think of that. But I would imagine that instead of designing a whole new drag link and end boots, Nissan would take an existing drag link and just turn it around to use on LHD vehicles. Which would result in still the same parts being used (drag link and boots).

Ill try to get an installed pic this weekend.

After your comment I went to check the parts manuals of both LHD and RHD, and in fact they are different! :roll:

ahh, I see! that may explain it. I searched your part numbers there and found something interesting....

This parts shop based in Thailand actually has brand new Patrol G60 parts! With that dust boot being one of them! no prices though, I wonder how their parts prices compare to other prices closer to or in the US...

so I messaged new-datsun-parts and sent them those pictures of the boot. they said they are going to check on the part numbers with their supplier in Japan. Maybe it is a possibility that that boot was modeled after a RHD boot, and the LHD is opposite...Ill see if I hear anything back.
