That should work out much better... measures a little over 7 inches on the treadwidth. Super Swamper TSL 29x8.50R15.

I was hoping to just re-ring the replacement engine that I bought but it has too much cylinder wear and will need to be bored. I guess since there is some boring planned maybe I should go back and see if the original engine is buildable. When I bought the truck in 2017 the head and pistons were removed maybe 15-20 years ago.

Pulling out the lifters and cam I noticed they were in pretty good condition. The rod journals and cylinder walls have surface rust but I think they should clean up okay. I am not sure why they took it apart though. The head was missing but all the valve train and pistons were loose in the rear. I did notice that when pulling out the rear main cap the seals on the sides were missing.

Block and crank are back. Bored 40 over and crank turned 10 under. I think I will be painting the block cast color instead of black like original.

Beautiful! Nothing like having that fresh block in front of you, coupled with all the parts.

Please take a lot of sequential pictures. We have some good examples but always scattered pictures of the process and nothing complete.

The choice of color looks good and makes sense. Are you going to use high temperature paint? Mostly will matter on the exhaust manifold, as regular paint does hold in the rest.

will do on photos. I am using cast iron color paint from Duplicolor it is engine enamel with ceramic. I have it on my Land Cruiser engine for the past 3 years with about 5000 miles and it seems to be holding up pretty good.

Did not get any assembly done but I made some progress towards that. Got the new pistons on the rods. Unlike my Land Cruiser the connecting pin has to be pressed into the connecting rod. When I got the truck the engine was partially disassembled. I had to do some cleanup on the bearing journal ends of the connecting rods from where they had been sitting in the rear of the truck for 15+ years. Some of the head bolt threads in the block were a little dirty from having sat so long. I chased them and the main bolt holes with a tap.
