I finally met the owner of this Patrol, today. It was her deceased husband's car and he used it in the mountains around Telluride. She was amenable to selling it but also likes where it is for sake of memories. I asked her if it had the original tool box and jack. She didn't know but said I could have them if they were in there. And guess what!!!! They were....not there. So close. I did not want to nit pic here regarding the one remaining hubcap or locking gas cap, but left my contact information.

I got the phone number from the son and texted him a picture of my Patrol and thanked them for their indulgence. Very nice people. I also asked if there were any parts stashed away.

Anyway, regarding this vehicle there is nothing of value to me, but I hate to see it rot, but some people do. Maybe there is something worth chasing down...or not.

If she is agreeable to sell the hubcap(s), please let her know they would be well cared for, mounted on my family's lovingly restored Patrol.
Thanks,
Keith

I spy rust on the rear corner... How badly is the front end crunched? and does the engine turn over?

lots of questions.

Would it be worth a 15 hour round trip to this salty old junk-miner? Maybe- After all, I once drove all the way to El Paso Texas and back for what eventually became the blue bondo bucket (triple B) parked out in my side yard right now - But, I got REALLY lucky with my 66- I bought it as a non-running parts truck and all it ended up needing was a wave of the magic wand.... and a new suspension, and some serious frame surgery, and a body-off rebuild and paintjob, and, and...

Wait, just HOW lucky did I get?????

Yeah, I don't think there are any round trips to Telluride in my car-hauler's immediate future...

But then again- I also did two 12 hour round trips to California to gather up my 62 Ramona-Zona softtop Patrol, and the 65 hardtop scrapper, turned numbers matching resto-mod candidate... so maybe....

Yeah, NO. No trips to Colorado.

No, no, no, no, no.....

No.

Sometimes parting them out is the best tribute you can pay to the long life and years of service they put in...

But this one- if it's still got all it's original numbers, along with known/documented ownership history (old family photos, etc) Who knows- It could still maintain more value than the sum of its parts, to the right buyer....

Who, we have clearly established, isn't me :)

Well, that is kind of where I was going with this. It would not take much to go up and get it. Just an afternoon. And god knows, I love taking stuff apart and not putting it back together. Problem is I don't have any personal incentive to do so other than help my bro's and sis on 60Patrol. And that is good enough. If there was a professional assessment that it would be worth the effort than I might give it a go as long as I can break even or close.

The question is; what is it worth? $500, $1000. It couldn't be much more.

Robert, buy that one in Pagosa. I think it is still available. I accidentally texted the seller and the price is still $7600 and it needs to be gone! That's about 9 hours from Phoenix.
