The early ones had a rear PTO orifice. It is a cool concept to think about; a Patrol with a long tail motor on it. Now that would be a worthy mod. Let's use one of yours David. We can do this. I propose the Green River to the Colorado river and thence on to Moab. I am not kidding, if you want magazine fodder, this is it. I have been contemplating a long tail pontoon boat for just such a purpose (less the Patrol), but as an adjunct to overlanding....oh yah. We would probably need a gear box mounted to the rear to increase the speed. Long tail outboard parts are readily available.

And we do this on Easter Jeep weekend when the rivers are running high. Traditionally that is how it is run....in boats mind you. The Green is a float trip and best in the spring. Going up stream on the Colorado will be interesting. But I can assure you that every off road magazine in the country will cover it as well as a few national news stations. We pull out at Canyonlands, but you may need a winch there. Oh wait....PTO.

They are big slow rivers at that time. We could try feral hog hunting with handguns. That would be a little more mellow.

It would have to be from inside a vehicle or elevated position, because I'm too old, too phat, and too slow for them to hunt me!

mdawg4 x4,
All you need to do is tell me when you can come up The Lair and we find a way to make sure you have an advantage :animals-chickencatch: . Not that it paid off for Plateaucal

Patrolling again soon,

Paid off? Aside from almost freezing to death, I ate well, drank well and actually was able to take a shot at a moving streak of reddish brown something. I think I could have been successful but the blind was rattling so bad from me shaking, you could hear it 1/4 mile away.

Well, in all fairness, David did warn me that a Texas cold is not like Colorado cold. You see, we are several thousand feet closer to the sun and it's dry (heat transfer or something). Thirty two degrees down there is freezing, up here it's shorts weather. But I will admit, I always assumed Texan's were a bunch of softies (that's what the other Yankies told me). I am sure you would agree. :D I grew up in Nebraska and hunted when it was so cold that the birds wouldn't fly. It was so cold it took 10 seconds to rack your shotgun. It was so cold that your face felt like you just got back from a trip to the dentist. But that was 40 years ago. Geez, Alaska was more comfortable than Texas, unless you fell into the water.

But it was fun!!!!! Good memories at The Lair.
