Builds, refurbishments, restorations, upgrades

Today was take-apart-the-axles day!

There was lots of pad left on the front brakes... Nice and oily pad! ;-)

Springs and goodies!
7307

The brake drums all look decent

Axles post clean up!

Quick question -- one of the steering linkage shafts has little bends at each end -- I'd have expected the shaft to be straight, but it's not... Anybody know the answer?

Happy Saturday Night!

The bends at the two ends is correct. I just checked on mine. The one installed in my Patrol is a new one that I installed a couple of years ago (have had the parts for ages)

Thanks Esteban! Glad to know that it's not bent!

Rob -- Yes, I am very, very good at disassembling things! ;-) Now I have to put it all back together!

The sandblaster sent over a couple pictures of the top -- It's bad, although not as bad as I expected!

And a lovely fiberglas repair

What have I gotten myself into?

It is surprising though how much rust there isn't! Aside from the top, there is barely anywhere on the beast... whew!

It's been an exciting couple of days here in sunny, smoky, Northern California

First... STOP! In the name of love! nielsch99's brakes and parts arrived yesterday and look awesome - the first four items in my quick trick brake stack (anyone get the references here? ;-) )
7326

Next, a couple trips later and almost all the parts are back from being blasted and primed -- Only the top is still at the shop.

The ol' Family Patrol lived up to it's name (again) as Joe helped with the transport home
7325

One of the many parts stacks
7324

The floors look really good
7323

And a few views of the blasted and primed tub
7328
7329
7327

Aside from the top, the lower rear tub corners appear to be the places that will need the most attention.
7330

Its a good day!

Day three of the Fall Season and yet it's actually springtime! ;-)

Dropped the springs off at Sacramento Spring for some love... They'll be massaged and recurved back to stock plus 1 inch, plus the bushings will be replaced all in the next two weeks! BTW, Cory at Sac Spring was familliar with the Patrol and has dealt with the springs in the past!

Here they are sitting by their big brother springs!
7331

On a completely unrelated note -- Since I was heading to West Sac to drop off the springs, the lovely Miss Em tagged along so we could stop by Bacon & Butter in Sac for some takeout. We sat in the park and shared "the kitchen sink" breakfast -- it truly is the BEST EVER and so, so worth the trip! Trust me, if you are ever in Sac, go have breakfast at Bacon & Butter...
