Re: 1966 Patrol -Eastern Rust
Thanks RiverPatrol. This weekend, I drained the oil - aside from being normal dirty, there was no water - a really good sign. I decided to take off the oil pan as well so I could take a look and see if there was any damage to the crank, other internals and to ensure no metal parts in the pan. All lo...

1966 Patrol -Eastern Rust
Hi everyone. about 5 years ago this patrol was recued from the forest in upstate NY. 8909 . Since it was rescued, it's been sitting in my driveway, much to the chagrin of my neighbors. Recently, we had to do some work on the driveway, so I moved the patrol into the garage. That was it. I couldn't st...

Re: Nissan Patrol circa 1967 - $3000 (Galway)
Hi all. quickie update. I've been absent for a bit. Work has gotten in the way of the projects. I had to have some repair done to my driveway though, which required that I put the blue patrol into the garage. With it just sitting there, I started to clean it up and remove the rusty hardtop 8905 8904...

Re: 1964 Patrol brochure
That makes sense. So, I was thinking the six speeds would actually mean it could go faster, but if you're right, its actaully 3 lower gears. Just what we all needed!

Re: Minion Missile - 1973 Colombian Patrol Project
Happy Easter everyone, While I anxiously await the VW TDI transplant, I decided to tackle a little more rust. The rust repair continues slowly - I have cut out rust on every corner of the tub. Now it's time for the bed floor itself, which is rusted at the edges where it meets the wheel tubs, has bee...

I don't have one to offer you. They are out there though. I had to replace mine a few years back and the forum members came through with a good replacement.

Re: VW TDI Engine Swap
Great project! How does the torque output of the VW engine compare to the original Patrol engine? The torque we talked abut was ~350 ft lbs. They think they can deliver that and 170hp-180hp without much tuning. Both of these are substantial upgrades from the original motor. The weight of the motor ...

Re: VW TDI Engine Swap
Quick Update. I have found an engine builder: Kraftwerke in Massachussettes: http://www.kraftwerke1.com/. There are several different TDI versions. Preliminarily we have decided to go with one of the earlier models. If we were after horsepower and options for electronic tuning, we would have gone fo...

VW TDI Engine Swap
I'm going to start a new thread on this since the old thread started out with the assumption that I would be going the Cummins route for a diesel conversion. However, the more research I did, I realized that the VW TDI engine is a very popular conversion for jeeps, so I figure it should be a really ...
