New Koito Headlights

I've been on a quest to replace the original Koito sealed beams and put them on the shelf for better use than a daily driver.

I do a lot of night driving at high speeds and in the country and run Hella H4's or Truck Light LEDs in my work trucks. Really wanted something different than Hella and LEDs are just blasphemous in older vehicles.

Hmm? I wonder if Koito is still going and what do they offer today?

Well they do and they're very reasonably priced. As cheap as the poorly made sealed beams cobbled together by big name brands that hardly fit the bezels anymore.

If you buy them individually under the Koito part number 6R11 they can be a bit spendy. But I discovered they come in a kit as a pair with some relays and wiring from Toyota for a bargain.

They can be sourced straight from Toyota with part # 81110-60P70 as cheap or cheaper than anywhere here in the States.

There you have it. Japanese quality OEM brand and better than the Hella in quality I might add IMO.

I replaced mines with Cibie halogen soe 40 years ago as a way to have better lighting with the original generator (this was overseas). Later on I installed Hella with interchangeable bulbs and even run 100W bulbs at one time. Still have the Hellas with normal light bulbs.

This option you posted is certainly tempting.

Please confirm these are plug and play. I need three sets but if it requires engineering or anything other than plug and play I'll pass as my Rigid LEDs actually do the work and I don't want to pay for my mechanics to re-engineer lights I really don't need.

Still, if they are plug and play....I'm in!

Plug and play and lube included.

I didn't use the relay harness which I think Toyota included because they knew people would install the 100 watt bulbs and didn't want to have a Chernobyl.

These come with 55 watt bulbs and the original Koito sealed beams in a Patrol were 50 watts. Which equates to less than 1/2 amp additional per lamp. The wiring can certainly handle the extra current.

Even the relay harness is plug and play sort of. No cutting of original harness is needed as they have piggy back connectors that go inline including fuses. The only thing you would need to add is a hot wire from somewhere. So hold on to the relay harness for future use if you feel you need to run with 100 watt bulbs.

I went on some down under forums and many on there speak very highly of them. Several mentioned that they are nicer than Hellas.
