Busy day today... I made the wife her birthday dinner, built a raised bed garden, and finally got about 1/2 hour to make some ugly welds... I have no excuse, I normally weld with flux wire, but I just got the gas and wanted to try it out...I have a bit more to do (the other side) and then I can start making the floors permanent.. I oops-ed on the inside patch, I should have bent a lip there.. Oh well nothing a little more gas and wire can't fix... next is fixing the tub..

When you switched from flux core to gas, did you change the polarity? When using flux core your ground is positive, when gas welding your ground is negative. Makes a huge difference.

yes I did. I'm just not used to it.. once I take a flap wheel to it It'll clean up nicely. My welds got much better as I went.

There are so many variables in welding. My biggest thing to get right was that perfect distance away from your weld line so the heat and gas or flux mix and flow a bit. I also stopped trying to achieve perfection on thin metal. Just go for tech correct.....just welding a bit here....let cool and bit there and cool. The set up is 7/10ths of the whole job and I think this looks plenty good to grind, touch up if needed and move on.

Any thoughts on new rubber welting? The rubber for fender to body mount.

I was looking for something also and pulled the trigger on this stuff. I received just now and it is so perfect and so affordable! The bead is exact to ours.

I'm almost there.. I just got my daughter off to college, I'm finishing up with golf and I'm done with house projects for the year. Unfortunately my last class has started. Chemistry class 2x a week from 5 to 10. I plan to get the floor in and primed before the snow flies so I can push it out and use the space.. plus I have a few projects I need to sell off to raise some cash.

I'll have to look for the pics but I moved 20ton of material in prep for the the graduation. 10 ton on pea gravel 700 pieces of vermont blue ston, and close to 8ton of modified stone.. made a Tiki bar and a tiered stone patio.... good thing I made the weight box for the kubota loader..
