Mechanical Fuel pump

Post by IrishPatrol »

I just purchased a new Fuel pump off the Datsun site, It does not have a manual primor pull or any such indication it should have one. The reaon i'm asking is the manual shows one on the fuel pump. At least in the repair manual I have. Do any of yours have it????

Models after probably 1968 came without the primer in the fuel pump, so the spares came without one as well.

For a car that's not driven every week or months sometimes, this primer could be one of the best features to have.

I am chasing one with a Primer, ill buy it even if its faulty or doesn't work, I could rebuild it with a kit, so if you have one let me know :) Also like swerve said just crank it, its fine to do with a fully good and Charged battery as sometimes they take a bit or cranking over to go. I find its heaps easier just placing my hand over the Carby and turning the key trough the window that really Draws up the fuel, none of my G60's have a Primer On them, and I have never Seen one.

I have another 4 pumps Sitting in the Shed and I am sure most don't work, but there is enough to make a Good pump if I Ever need one.
