I need Urgent Help with Wipers

Hi all,I got some money to spend on the 66,and now it finally time to get the last thing done before Rego.

I need all lights to be rewired up.
The wipers were working well before I removed the front Guards and wiring loom to get ready to reinstall the new guards, now the wipers are not working, and I am not sure what's the problem, of not sure if I got the Correct wires in correct spot on alternator, I need help pleas

Michael,

Being yours a 66, the wiper motors are extremely simple, with only one speed. Only two cables are routed, a positive (Blue-Red) and a negative or ground (Black). Momentarily try to connect the motors to a different source, to see if the problem is in the motors or the wiring.

Since the two motors are not working, the problem is most probably in the wires, or at the fuse box. There's a dedicated 10A fuse for them. Start checking there. Corrosion at the fuse holders is typical on these Patrols.

thanks esteban,I tried your idea with the wires, and yes both Wiper motors are still Working, however the passenger side one is a bit lazy while the drivers side it functioning lot quicker, any idea why that may be happening ?

On the 60's fuses which fuse is in which location ? The Label on the inside of the fuse cover is not readable.

There are a few wiring diagrams here: http://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1671 In the 2nd post there is a diagram for a '66 and a '67. It looks like the fuse for the wipers is the 2nd from the right, when you are looking at the fuse block from over the fender. Check to make sure you are getting power to both sides of the fuse holder and both the wires that connect to the fuse block. You might need to have the key turned on for these fuses to have power to them.

As for the slow wiper, it could just need a good cleaning inside. Sometimes wasps like to get in the housing and build nests. Take the cover off and see what it looks like inside. Clean up the contacts while you're there. It could be that the original grease is hardened also.

there still Dickie mate,i turned them on and no go, forgot to turn them off and left ignition on, went inside got a drink and came out and drivers side was working (passenger does work,but it was missing the spring so wanst going) There not working at the moment,and neither are the lights
