What is this......Landrover or older military vehicle?

Post by ShowMePatrol »

Today while driving to Nashville for a conference, I passed this vehicle and had to turn around to get a picture of it. Looks sort of like an older Landrover or military vehicle. Its in a run down garage lot and has been there for at least a year or more. I was only able to take pictures from my car due to access. What do you guys think it is? Has a large winch on front.

not seeing the front I thought it was a dodge power wagon ambulance but I'm not sure about that wheel pattern, either land rover or Studebaker?
(insert clever saying here)

I don't know what it is... but its got an ominous look about, methinks. Reminds me a little of the van in the "jeepers creepers" movie. Now I'm wondering what that was too?

Definitely a Dodge Power Wagon, with that wheel bolt pattern. Land Rover was building only the Series I at that time, a very small vehicle compared with this one. Slightly bigger than a Willys.

I bought a book for trails around here by Roger Mitchell called "Inyo-Mono SUV Trails". I was captivated by the dedication page....a shot of a dude named Jim Roberts who was a good friend of Mr. Mitchells during the 50's.Image
I wrote to Roger Mitchell just to ask about that shot. It looked like this area and in fact was. Turns out he lived here in Bishop for some years.
Show Me, not hijacking just long winded....
...And, there was some other great shots he allowed me to share. Thanks Roger.
Some close cuzzins.
