I would like to make a bikini and wanted to use the existing C channel on the windshield to fasten the front. How does that work? Are there hooks or do you slip an "edged" or "piped" front edge into the channel? Any close ups?

I used one from a wrangler, although it about 4" too narrow it worked fine.. Just slip the folded edge into the channel.. Yes stock had a loop and you would slide a dowel into the loop and capture the material... PITA ... Unfortunately mt plow patrol had the channel deleted sometime in it's history. If you were fabbing up a new top I'd suggest using the same jeep style or just snaps..

So find a cheap used bikini top from a jeep and go, If it just to keep the sun off your scalp, it works.

You got it - it's a piped edge. The 'fill' for the piping is a thick twine or small gauge rope. An old orange extension cord works perfectly.

You lay the canvas top upside down over the hood (bonnet) and then slide the piped edge into the channel. Then you slide the piped edges that go over the window frames.

Wish I would have a picture at the moment, but once in place, it really doesn't show.

Thanks all. I will most likely do the piping thing since it seems very secure when in place. I am tempted to make some side and rear flaps that when driven stay rolled up or would be okay if driving slower. This would help secure the dogs a bit but mostly would be a godsend in a downpour. Snaps, cinch straps, basic strapping down to the cage and tub.
