Re: Bosque 67 Patrol
I have forgotten to mention the difference. It is significant, Like the difference of trying to breathe with a blanket over your face. You can do it but.....remove that blanket and oh......I can breath again!
I'm not sure about the prefilter since I just bought them and I too was using the oil bath filter.....with oil! I'll bet they last longer than an oil change. I have had a K&N oiled filter on my Ford and tried for years to "understand" it. Pitched it years ago and went with a dry filter, no problems no pink oily mess. The fibers in my Patrol filter seem painted and I have always wondered if it works. I have cleaned the filter in gas and it made no difference. Just take the filter off while it runs and see what I mean. If yours is clogged you'll notice it with the skinny pedal immediately.
I got 2 with prefilters for 26 bucks to the door.

Re: Bosque 67 Patrol
The filters are not expensive but I wanted the prefilter and filter and this seller had them for 13 dollars a pop delivered. Still not bad especially if as Butch mentions the prefilter extends the life of the filter. I do not believe the prefilter should be oiled. Cementing them may not be necessary but easy to do. I did notice the 2 1/2" high filter so maybe a 2.5 + 3 =Esteban wrote:Dave, the idea of the pockets and how they attach is very clever. They also look "period correct". And your air filter look tops. Sleepyzzz mentioned about the cost, but I understand that they are inexpensive.
Is the pre-filter foam supposed to be oiled? Also, is there a need to glue the two filters together to prevent displacement?

Re: Bosque 67 Patrol
Went up the Wheeler Crest again but this time a photographer buddy came along. We had some carnage. Lots of rock hopping. When we came down my buddy rode his mountain bike down ahead of me. At one point I was high centered and could not back up due to two wheels were not touching the ground. Out with the come-along......that's the first time I ever was really really stuck and if I did not have a winch of any sort my Patrol would be there right now at 11,000+ ft elevation. Buy an inexpensive come-along if you are going out and especially if you are alone or just one 4x, seriously. I was set up to a tree and cranking it backward when my friend Joel came panting back up the hill to help. He will send me some shots soon and I'll post.
When on the way back down, these parts were sitting on top of a rock (this shot in my driveway) we had to get a bit aggressive with on the way up. Garyscc recent ebrake posts made me recognize these parts immediately.

Sorry to hear about the carnage, Dave. Hope you didn't loose any critical component.
One more for the Ausie - American dictionary. It's the ratchet type cable puller.

And you have to be Superman to use it to move a vehicle.
Carry a High-Lift jack instead; more versatile and not as much work.

Re: Bosque 67 Patrol
River, Yes, I should have bought a hi-Jack because they are way more versatile. The cost was not in the budget at the time. I needed something! Have you tried one of these? It is almost one handed operation to crank.....and I was pulling the Patrol backwards uphill, off of a rock and over rocks.....not hard except you do have to coordinate the lock down mechanism, slight PITA. It really was fun to get out of this. I wasn't worried that it would not work. Mind you this is a 5 ton model.RiverPatrol wrote:And you have to be Superman to use it to move a vehicle.Carry a High-Lift jack instead; more versatile and not as much work.
Mystery? I have not looked real good yet but it seems these snapped off the ebrake adj mech.

Re: Bosque 67 Patrol
I am trying to fix a power failure. First issue is to figure it out and my diagnosis abilities are weak. A few of you have helped a bunch over email so want to tell it here, thanks.
Power fails when I rev it but idles okay.

I installed new plugs & wires ( used the WP caps with bare end wire pressed onto spike in dizz) after seeing the shot below.

I did a valve adj (no tap-tap!), and had done the timing but maybe should look into it again with the new wires. I did try reving it while pouring gas into carb and it just gasped the same.

I would only guess it to be the coil, coil wire, or pertronix module in dizzy.
One suggestion was to take off the exhaust to eliminate a blockage....it does a "putter-put-put" sound out the exh tip.
Not right but almost.....
