Ebay - 77 G60 with 350 V8,Auto,and coil over leaf suspension
Guys, just though id post this up, anyone need a parts rig or plan to build a tough tourer of comp truck this one is a perfect basis. Got a 350 Chevy Crate motor, a Shitty Auto, some funky suspension with coils fitted, and i thinks its pushing 35's http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1977-NISSAN- ... 1c3813412b

Me! Especially in a 4wd, can't go past an auto.

Hmmmm... coils and leaf springs. Looks vaguely familiar to me, except at least this guy took the time to fabricate some plates for the coil springs
The nice thing about using an automatic with a 60 Patrol V8 conversion is that you can put the engine where the engine SHOULD be. The auto allows the bellhousing to be pulled forward, so that the firewall doesn't have to be all chopped up (ahem, like Faux40's 67
)
For 4 wheeling- I think it all comes down to personal preference, and the type of off-road conditions you are confronted with. I always liked having autos for the mud and soft sand, but I think manuals are easier when you are out slow-going in the desert rocks... The rocky canyons out here in Arizona can quickly overheat and chew up an automatic if the driver is not careful.
And let's face it- if you put in the time and effort to swap in a V8, the chances are good that you are going to go out and lay some smokey rubber tracks with it, and automatics are SUPREMELY better for drag racing...

Looking at the pictures, those big 1- 1/2 inch holes in the front grille plate probably mean that this one runs hot. (those KC lights blocking the grill opening probably aren't helping, lol)
