Carb/intake part??

Won't run? Engine, cooling system, fuel pump, carb, clutch, tranny, brakes, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Engine & Mechanical' category are here.

Post by jwgreen »

Ok Patrolers.....what is this? It was bolted to my intake manifold. I know I've seen it somewhere before but I couldn't find it in the part catalog. Any help?!!?

Bolted to the intake manifold? Thats a new one. That looks like it is the vacuum advance for a water protect distributor; it's supposed to be on the side of your distributor. It looks like the actuating stem is missing though.

That actually bolts to a metal bracket which bolts to the manifold. It has a plunger that contacts the carbureator linkage. Im not sure why they put these on the patrol, but when you hit the throttle the plunger extends, and when you let off the throttle the plunger contacts the carb linkage an slowly retracts to let the carb go back to idle at a controlled rate. :D i have heard them referred to as IDLE CONTROL STEPPERS

You don't need it. Toss it over your shoulder for good luck. :D

Or if you have a mate doing a rebuild of something just throw that in with the parts and see what he does when he's finished and that thing's left over
