Patrol in Argentina FREE to good home.

Post by jimmyrobby »

Our Patrol which has travelled all the way down from Colombia to Argentina is FREE to anyone who might want it.

- We recently had some engine issues which we simply can't afford to fix as we're down to our last travel funds but don't want a beautiful car completely decked out for overland travel to go to waste. So we'd rather give it to someone who might want it.

-Colombian Papers
1979 Hard top.
Custom Designed Roof Tent.
Roof Rack
Dual Battery System
Spotlights
Fog lights
Camping pots and Pans
Cutlery /Cooking Utensils
Alcohol burners
Bed assembly for inside (cosy)
Small 2-man tent (separate)
storage boxes for food / clothes etc
2 - Spare Tyres
Many Miscellaneous Tools / LED Torches and similar
2 - Spare 12V Electric Fuel Pumps
Auxiliary Fuel Container
First Aid Kit

- The work that needs doing includes some re-machining of crank-shaft and clutch and new bearing shells for the pistons. Total for doing the work here and reassembling the engine etc is 12000 - 13000 Argentinian Pesos, about $1500 US - completely ready for the road (inc new oil, radiator fluid, filter etc). The Patrol is Currently in a mechanics so if the work was wanted it could happen right away, only depending on getting the new bearing shells.

It really is decked out some great overland adventures and $1500 is a small price to pay to be back on the road completely decked out overland 4x4 with tons of character and class! We are really sad to have to say goodbye, we've had some amazing adventures and the Patrol has been such a reliable and fun car to travel in, we simply can't invest the time and money at the end of our journey...

Hate to hear of your Patrol troubles. Should be a great grab for somebody wanting a project.

Bummer, I loved seeing your pictures and thinking about how awesome that trip would be. I'm very interested in the patrol. PM sent. Trying to figure out the complexities of importing if that's an option for your situation.

Well, I'm out if anyone else was interested. Not sure of the current status on this patrol either. I have found that importing this car to Florida or Texas is much cheaper than any other state in the USA because the ships leave from Buenos Aires to those two points only. Trying to get a quote from these shipping companies is horrible. It's like they don't want your business and are annoyed that you are bothering them.

We're interested as well but are looking into getting it to and into Ecuador. It would be a nice G60 for us to start with.

Just a quick one, been off the radar for a while. But the patrol has new owners and a new life! Yes! Will update more later. Cheers for all the interest and support!
