Re: 1969 Patrol arrival from Texas
beautiful Patrol, and I must admit, the Toyota looks awesome too. welcome to the forum, and as everyone else has said, you can't have too many pictures. after reading your post where the son in law confirmed everything done during the restore, i am really jealous, but happy for you and hope you enjoy the Patrol for a long time.
this one should be used and not pampered. enjoy, and after you have owned it for awhile, and taken it off road on some four wheeling trips, please let us know your thoughts and impressions of the Patrol versus the Toyota that you own. I agree with Esteban, the Patrol with the front and rear stabilizers should make for superior handling that the Toyota can't offer. but I have never driven or even ridden in a Toyota, and can only speculate that our Patrols will be better in that respect.
I am going to be kicking myself for a long time for not jumping on this when it was first offered.

Re: 1969 Patrol arrival from Texas
Hello Sleepyzzz,,,,,Yes, we plan to run the LC and the Patrol together in a few days off road here in Temecula area. Should be an interesting comparison. And yes, I do feel fortunate to have pulled the trigger on this one. I have shot from the hip in the past on a few Land Cruisers and came up empty, letdown and in the negative so this is a good day, especially for my 1st Patrol experience. You guys may know the guy who restored it. His name is David Lewis ( patrol registry handle HEMI something or other, I have to double check ). He also mentioned some other Patrol owners ( Norm Kiser, Gary Stoppelmore, Bob Hartley, Brian Ross ). David restored it in 1994-1995 so am not sure if these other names are older or new Patrol owners. Maybe you guys know them as it appears this is a rather small community. Anyway, David was a treasure trove of information. When the Datsun ( Nissan ) Dealership was sold to Rob in 2002 David said there was a complete and detailed file for the Patrol that was passed along, even original pictures of the Patrol before the resto. I contacted Rob but so far it has not been found. Thanks for the advice and the info.

Beautiful pair. I am a Jeep fan and have always liked the old FJs. It wasn't until I went to work for Nissan that I learned of the Patrol. I grew up a Datsun fan, in a small town, and would have begged for a Patrol if I had know about them.

Please, don't raise the suspension! Just kidding! But in the picture next to your Toyota (awesome by the way) I personally think the Patrol looks more proportionate.
Ummmmm.... No.
The Patrol looks like a low-rider next to the perfectly balanced stance on the lifted Land Cruiser.
However --- due to the rarity and the originality that this Patrol maintains, making any non-stock modifications would be treasonous and heretical. I agree It should be left totally unmodified and kept as close to original as possible.

So Dave, you've had the Patrol for over a month now. Plenty of time to kick the tires and put it through it's paces. How do you like it so far? How is it compared to your beloved TLCs? A comparison would be great, coming from an avid Cruzer head.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Hello Leslie,
It's my daily driver now.
I can see why you guys have so much respect for these Patrols. I have not had a chance to do any off road work outs yet though other then just driving it through the orhards out back here ( dirt roads and hilly ) but I really like the way it handles. Like I said, I have made it my daily driver for the time being and have put away my LC. I did get around to doing a valve adjustment and compression check. 150 psi straight across, so needless to say I am very happy with those results. Great investment and Leslie, thanks again for your advice when I was first looking it over.
