I just posted some pics of my '69 from the day we brought it home in Oct of 2011. That was almost 3 years ago (wow, I didn't realize it was that long). I only worked on it off and on until this year, primarily because the challenge seemed so daunting. Not only that, it always takes me at least 5 times longer to do a task than it would anyone else on the planet. I've been doing most of my own mechanical work for years, but this is the first vehicle I've really cared about. Want to do it right.
I'm trying to keep it pretty much original, however have made some deviations. It now has a Weber carb, custom exhaust, and LED tail lights (for safety).
We are in the process of building a front bumper that will carry a winch one day. My oldest Son is an iron-worker, so he has access to metal I wouldn't normally even know about. Needless to say, I'll probably be able to push a railroad car when it's done.
The Weber carb posed some linkage opportunities, and I ended up making my own linkage and kept it solid like the original.
I've also rebuilt the parking/emergency brake, and I'll post some pics of that endeavor. It wasn't nearly as much of a job as I expected, but did have some unexpected challenges.
This past Friday evening (7/18/14) we drove it in our local Cruise as part of our annual fun event called Harvest Days (Battle Ground, WA). There were several hundred cars participating. My main reason for joining the event was that so few people have ever even seen one, I thought it would be worth the work - about 20 hours of cleaning and waxing. It was well received and I was a happy camper.
So, that's a snapshot of our project so far. Lovin' every minute of it - even the head scratching ones.

Sounds like you want to get involved....and you are. The cruise sounds like it was good local event! Nice to have a son with those metal resources too.

Seems to have surprisingly little rust for the Pacific Northwest... was it originally from that region?

Ha, Ha. Yeppers. It's "slightly" over-engineered/built, but my son is an Iron Worker so he tends to make things that will move Redwoods. It's in a powder coat shop now. Will post some pics when all is said and done.
