Is the brake light switch on the MC turned on by brake fluid pressure, or is it the rod that turns it on?

it is pressure actuated. mine was inop also and I swapped in a switch from a 77 cj-5. I simply built a bracket and attached it to the brace above the brake pedal and attachhed the two wires, it works great. Pat

; Thanks! There can be 2 reasons it isnt working... 1. There is no fluid in the MC. I cant put it in there, cause I dont have the rear wheel cylinders hooked up to the rest of the system yet. 2. It has failed.I just kinda wanted to know... Ill tell yas as soon as I get the rear wheel cylinders hooked up if the switch works. Im crossing my fingers...Protect your PC - Click here for McAfee.com VirusScan Online

Mine failed and I simply went to my local NAPA store and looked at the brake switch pages in their master catalog and matched one up perfectly. The switch is not unique to the Patrol. Bill T

In Nov. of 1970 they moved the switch from the master cylinder to the brace behind the brake pedal. I assume it threaded in where the bolt stop is on the earlier years. The switch part # is 25320-h1000.(Don't know if it is available) The hole in the master cyclinder then had a threaded plug screwed into it. In Jan. of 1973 they switched to the dual master cylinder. It should be easy to rig a switch up behind the pedal. My Hardbody has the same type of set up. Keith

So finally the explanation for the dual chamber MC I saw in a photo my son sent from Japan. Do you have the part # for this? Will it fit our sixties Patrols?

The books and illustrations that I have show it fitting right and left hand drive models. The only difference I see is the brake lines come out the bottom instead of the top. It looks like to me it could fit. Here are the #'s 46010-65200 Jan. 73 to June 76 46010-65201 July 76 to Jan. 77 46010-65202 Feb. 77 on I've also seen this attached to a Master Vac brake booster. I think only r.h. drive Aussie maybe. No idea if you can get any of this but it sure would be nice. Keith
