WTB: Exhaust Manifold

Post by ckhorne »

Mine has a crack in it and the welder was unable to fix it, so now it has a hole in the top. My machinist recommended I don't drive until it's fixed, due to backpressure issues....

So... I'm looking for an exhaust manifold. Rust / corrosion is fine, as long as it's not cracked. Please let me know if you have one - my whole project is held up by this one part... :?

Consider also the possibility of installing the intake and exhaust manifold combo from a P40 engine from a forklift. It bolts exactly in the same place. The carburetor however needs to be a two barrel one, so the original won't work there.

Thanks for the info. Plan B was to call up Motor Power works or whatever their name is and see if they had a manifold, but I knew they only sold P40 parts. Do you know the specific carb I need to look for if I go that route? And I assume it fits onto the same exhaust pipe?

Probably the exhaust pipe will need some minor tweaking. I will ask my brother to send me some pictures of his Patrol. He did the change many years ago.

Regarding carb, y guess that one from a Datsun 240Z or 260Z will fit and probably many others. In my brother's case, he bought new manifolds and carburetor of the MQ or 160 model. He lives in Ecuador.

My brother sent me these two pictures that he had on file. He did mention that the exhaust pipe has to be shortened since the manifold assembly sits lower than the one on the P engine.

Interesting. Thanks for the info  - good to have confirmation that I the P40 will work with a little work.

I'll leave this open for a little longer to see if I can track down the original stuff first. Anyone?

I've got one or more (unknown condition) near my parts Patrol. I'll investigate when it gets a little warmer in a few days.
I may also have a rebound bumper or two and valve cover nuts if others need those items.
