Pegs '78 G60 Hardtop

Post by pegs »

Hello all,

just thought I'd share a photo of my 78 patrol that I've recently bought.

Image

Got it off a friend who had let the registration lapse so it required a few minor repairs to get it all roadworthy again. Still has a minor oil leak from the speedo cable seal but should have time to fix that soon and she'll be ship shape again.

cheers

Welcome to 60Patrol! :text-welcomeconfetti: Thanks for sharing your Patrol with us. :D

That is a good looking patrol. I like the color. I like that the bull bar is silver rather than the normal black, it goes well with the color.

What are the strips on the front fenders above the wheels? Are they some sorta of fender extender? I've seen them before but never got any detail.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Good eye! I've only seen them on pictures of Patrols in Japan, or in the toy Patrols.

Thanks guys, the photo was taken on return from a hunting trip in the bush in southern Tasmania. I'll try and take a photo of the fender extenders for you next time I have her out of the garage.
It came with a mountain of spare parts and photos from when one of the previous owners brought it down from Queensland. It was certainly someone's pride and joy. I think my friend kept it in good nick for quite a while but slowly over time got a little lazy with the upkeep of it. We have had many adventures in her over the years and when he mentioned that he had a bloke coming to buy it I sorted a deal out with him before it got away.

Welcome to the forum Pegs, what a beautiful part of Australia you live in, good old tassie, Im jealous :P

I believe this is the one from Tasmania that Jawapro (our resident Tasmanian G60 enthusiast) spotted down at Symmons Plains at the V8 Supercars a few years back. I bet its the Patrols with the side badges "NISSAN FIRE PATROL'' It appears to be the same vehicle from memory.

Yeah that's the one. My mate was having a few beers in the carpark and he said someone came along pestering him to buy it lol. She's also got a 5 spd gear box which seems to be a bit different to the norm
