well i just made it back to canada from moab.what a place! i met with the gone moab group and i must say what a great group of people.the four wheeling was unsurpassed as the scenery .the only thing that dissapointed me in the gone moab experience was , only 1 patrol showed up .that was my self.i was really hoping to meet up with some other patrol members as this is a common interest with us all .although i was the odd ball with the different vehicle they were happy to see something different in the group of newer nissans. hopefully next year more people that have patrols will attend.i know myself i will drive the 1600 miles to attend gone moab next year tomPost your free ad now! Hope you had a good trip home. I checked out his patrol, it was A+. A lot of similarities to the old Patrols that I wasn't aware of. He had the same engine except a newer version with a four speed. Transfer case and differentials set up was near identical. Wheelbase was even close. Please post some more pics and some technical data on what you have... There was one other Patrol (66') here except it wasn't road legal yet. Really wish I'd had it licensed even in the unfinished condition. I did go off road though in a 26 foot long F150 truck with 31's so next year don't let the thought of nowhere to wheel stop anyone from coming. Nice Patrol Tom, glad you made the trip. Jim

Hey Tom.... well, that is really great to hear you made it and at least one Patrol was there to represent old school. I had really wanted to go myself but unfortunately broke my ankle in late Febuary and can't even drive a stick yet! I know of other members from this site who also wanted to go but had personal life problems, they get in the way sometimes....I am sure a few people didn't go because of no organization for the Patrolers. It takes money and time to do an event like this and I guess you were the only one who had both plus serious motivation! Kudos to you for making the drive...1600 miles is a long ways. I drove through Moab last fall when I picked up my 64 ragtop and had never been through there. It made me just want to really go back with a rig...just didn't happen this year. I would really like to attend next year and am planning on it.... BTW, do you have any pictures from your trip!?

thanks i totally know about life things !! it takes a lot to plan these thing and i almost didnt go either .i hope yuor ankle feels better soon you must be itching to drive one of your p- rolls.i have pics but my buddy has more so i'll post some when he gives me his doubles.i think i showed them what ia patrol can do with ease.i didnt try only one rock .i knew it wouldnt be a problem but it was off camber and i didnt want to take a chance.every thing else was good you should see some of these xterra's though.nice trucks . i did see a 60's p-roll driving down the road on the last day i was there.it had a massive lift with 38 + tyres . crazy ; tomPost your free ad now! The old jeep was a 1961 AMC Mighty Mite model M422-A1. By the way, the truck only has boards on one side now .

; I lived in Durango, Colorado from the late 70's until I moved to Alaska in 1990 with my 1969 Patrol. I owned two Patrols in my Durango days, and heard my old '69 was last in Salt Lake City.; When I would show up at any big Rover event in Moad, or elsewhere with the Patrol, it was a head turner. Even back than people thought I was out of my mind to travel long distances in and old odd ball car like that, but I thought it was a kick. Pulling into a Telluride CO service station full of mud and grim from the high mountain pass off roads, the attendent said I was a braver soul than he for traveling those roads with my Patrol. I on the other hand felt like it could make it to South America and back! Hey Tom, Sorry to hear you were out there on your own. We had planned on coming, secured a tow vehicle, finally bought ourselves a trailer, my husband had the week off from work, but the kids didn't have that week off of school and we had no one to come stay with them if we left town and couldn't dump them on family becaus ethey still had to attend school

We miss so many events every year because they are always scheduled during the school year, Cruise Moab, Gone Moab, Dakota Territory Challenge, and many more. I hate the thought of waiting 7 years till the last kid is out of the house before we can attend any of these events, I guess life was never meant to be fair.... Alex.
