Quite right - I've been under the radar for a few months now - sorry !

Good news and bad news - the bad is that I haven't turned a spanner on my Patrols since the carby rebuild :(

Believe me, it's not due to any lack of interest - my lovely lady and I have bought a house, and the last few months have been pretty crazy. We get the keys on Feb 6 and the moving process will be on in earnest, including of course the collection of old Nissan / Datsuns. The good news is that the new place has a 12m x 6m shed in place with plenty of height to it, so I will soon be able to work on my cars in an actual shed instead of the driveway, with all tools at hand

So, frustrating as it is for me not to be able to get into my Patrol projects at the moment ( our current place needs some paint and other minor work before sale ) this move has to happen and will not only be a nice change after 15 years in the current place but will also provide a great Patrol garage where I can pick up a job where I left off instead of hauling all the tools and parts out to the driveway...and then going back to get the ones I forgot

cheers,
D

Photos of the 12.2m x 6m shed ( ~40' x 20' ) from the sale advert - still got the PO's stuff all through it in these, will have empty shots in a month or so. Note workshop area, storage room, lighting...will work out benches and shelving when the time comes 8-)

Excellent. The shed/shop looks tops. Good clearance at the ridge so you'll be able to work with an engine hoist very comfortable. Nice concrete floor. No oil spots yet.

No wonder you're so happy!

Same size as my shed but I love what he's done with the work space at the back. It's easy to end up with "dead space" in a big shed

There seems to be some dispute over the indigenous meaning of our town's name...I think it translates to "holy crap, those spiders are HUGE !". Biggest wolf spiders I've ever seen - I don't mind spiders generally but these ones are kinda angry looking...will have to get used to it !

This truck deserves to live again! I vote P40 and 5spd from MK Ute though.

I only know of one other G61 in Aus., I am sure there was more but I have never heard of them. An estimate I heard at one time from an Aussie guy was 200 sold in Aus. Here is some pictures of the other Aussie G61, it is/was in a junkyard. Can't remember if these pics were posted on Patrol4x4 or my old forum. Maybe somebody else knows something about this old Patrol. Sure looks like it would be worth pulling from the j/k for parts or whatever, if it even still is there.

Since it has the H233 rear axle it is actual a G61H, same for yours if it has the H233. Nissan didn't put anything on these trucks to designate heavy duty "H". If yours has the smaller C200 rear (not sure that was even sold in Aus.) it would be a regular G61.

Cheers

Hi all,

so...where was this salvage yard with the blue G61 ? :shifty: Kidding, no more Patrols...got plenty on the plate already !

No real update to write about as yet - although I remain committed to the G60/61 cause ! Still working on the previous house and looking to offload that in the next month or so...then a couple of jobs to do at the new place ( like build a smaller shed to house camping gear, bikes and other non-automotive gear ), and then it's time to set up the big shed, sort parts and dismantle the donor vehicles...should be some photo opportunities in there.

The plan remains the same - get the green G60 on the road ( fuel tank needs cleaning, suspension, electrical and seating need a little more work and brakes could use a going over ) and then the G61 will be the focus. If I was selecting a motor for the G61 today I would probably look for an MQ/MK with the SD33 turbo and 5-speed...the P40 would be nice to keep it "original" but I do have an abundance of P motors, which it is already set up for...anyway, I have a little time before a firm decision must be made.

cheers,
D
