Parts Needed

Post by 1965patrol »

Hello Forum,
I'm in the process of restoring a 1965 Nissan Patrol soft top. I need a gas tank, the side Nissan Patrol Emblem badges, the front Nissan emblem badge, front and rear tail lights. If someone has a template for the soft top without the stock frame, could you please share?
Thanks

I am in the process of restoring 2 patrols (65 hardtop and 62 softtop) and I can honestly say that original (or the correct Tokiko replacement) tail lights & front marker lamps have been the most difficult parts for me to track down and acquire...

The best substitute I have found (so far) for the Patrol's original marker and tail lights are reproduction Lucas 488 lamps out of China. You have to make sure you get the Chinese knock-offs, because the original 488's all have "Made in England" embossed into the glass lenses - the Chinese copies don't have this lettering.

in terms of matching, the 488 lamps are 3/4" smaller in overall diameter than the early Patrol marker and tail lights, but they are the same overall design- Round, chrome bezel, rubber boot, and glass lense.

Here is a source:

regarding the fender emblems - I found them often on Ebay, and Ron (2869ral) here on the forum is teaching himself how to cast reproductions- read this thread for more info:

On the soft top- I want to make sure I understand- you are looking for a pattern or plans for a top that does NOT use the stock Nissan Patrol frame? If so, then I will have something to share, but it won't be for another several months (even up to a year) - I have a non-stock offroad Patrol that I am building that I am going to fabricate a custom jeep-style, fully fold down/fold up softop for. I will certainly draw plans and designs for that project when I get there, but it won't be anytime in the near term.... I still have to design a dual-reservoir brake circuit conversion for Faux40 first...

Thanks for the information. I will check the website for the lights. We hope to have the Patrol done by April. We are going to put a hard top on it but hope to eventually have someone makes us a soft top for it. Thanks again.
