Break the spring pack down to the main leaf, jack your axle up to bump and build backwards from there. That shackle is to short for the amount those springs will move, and if it is not strapped and bumped will bend the top leaf.

Bump, finding shackle location.

Droop, finding upper shock mount.
Also make the sleeves in the spring ends, and shackle a hair longer then the bushings. This will keep the springs from binding. These are big packs, but the leaves are thin to give them a more consistent spring rate through the travel.
Your fab skills look far superior to mine, but it's never fun to taco a $700 set of leafs.

Re: 1977 Nissan Patrol Ute resto-mod
Thanks Robin for the pics and info. The Deavers cost me more than $700! Due to how this build will play out, truck is going to be an overland style truck, I need some weigh carrying ability. I wouldn't be surprised if the truck is about 6,000lbs once finished. I have pretty much decided on using Chevy 63" springs rather than the Deavers. The Ute won't make a great desert runner unless I used a different motor and much better shocks and it won't make a great rock crawler unless I used a different trans/t-case combo as gearing just won't be low enough, roughly 55:1 crawl ratio with the 160 Patrol stuff. It is being built more as an overland truck for things like trips to Baja.
The shackle is just what I had laying around at the time.

Parts from Japan shipped on the 15th and showed up yesterday at the post office. That is very impressive for standard post from Japan! Tomorrow I send off the IP parts to the injection shop. Excited to get this all going!

Well, after waiting six weeks or so some parts have shipped from Japan for this project, separate order from the IP parts posted above. That being a few trans gaskets, a new OEM brake booster and the unicorn part which is the t-case gear needed to run the rear PTO. Very happy about all this!

Re: 1977 Nissan Patrol Ute resto-mod
Injection pump is done and fully rebuilt, same goes for turbo and injectors. All that was sent to the machine shop yesterday. I am very happy because when it all went to the injection shop I was quoted $3,000 for the IP alone and with the other items it was not much shy of $4k!! I supplied the parts from Japan and when it was all said and done it ran me $1,600 and change plus the cost of parts from Japan. Expect the worst and when it turns out like this you are a happy Patroller.
The Ute is going to be one sweet Patrol with a brand new SD33T, fully rebuilt 5spd & t-case, front and rear PTO boxes. I am getting excited now, soon I should be building the Ute's rolling chassis!
Cheers
