Ya, doubt it gets that kind of coin in Colombia. Never know though, not many of them have survived down there in this condition.

The motor is original, P engine and I recall it being matching numbers. I personally inspected the vin plate on this truck. 4W66 was a crossover year and model, like the G61's. This truck has the original motor mated to the earlier 4spd, all factory original. 4W66 was the only 4Wxx model like this, they were only made for about 6 months, shortest production run of any Nissan vehicle.

Ya but the earlier ones are basically one in a million. Extremely rare anywhere in the world. At least the 4W66's show up once ever decade in Colombia. I know of and have seen about 5 or 6 of them in Colombia in the last 11yrs. And when it comes to production numbers, I think the 4W66 was produced far less than the earlier 4W6x's but more than likely more of the 4W66s still survive.

That 4spd also had a granny 1st gear. I think they may have also been full time 4wd as I recall the one pictured above having only a single stick for high-low. I got to drive it in Colombia some years ago. I also have come across at least two full trans & t-case combos down there in the second hand parts market. Good luck getting any parts though for any 4W6x series. You guys think 60-series Patrol parts are hard to get! Imagine virtually nothing being available at all. That is the 1950's Patrols. But to a collector, in my opinion a 4W6x series is a unicorn and would be the pride an joy of any collection.

Really nice one sold in Japan not to long ago, it was a pre-4W66 and was absolutely mint. I am sure some of you have seen pics of it as it was in a museum in Japan for a lot of years and many detailed pics of it could be found on the internet. This one oddly enough was LHD even though it was in Japan.

Actually, it doesn't have a low range, so the stick is only to engage the 4WD. Years ago somebody from Australia posted an article from the magazine Overlander from a nice restoration of a 1959 4W65. The mechanicals are probably the same for the 4W66 of 1960. This is what they say:

The 4W65 doesn't have low range, only a crawler gear first, so in effect it's a three-speeder like the later models. First gear has a 7.13 reduction, which combined with the diff at 4.09 gives a 29:1 crawl ratio, which is actually better than the G60's 26:1 in first low. Reverse is even lower at 8.46.

As an anecdotal story, a great uncle bought a huge farm in a then secluded beach in Ecuador in 1965, with all equipment and vehicles. We went to visit and he had one of these Patrols with the engine head off inside a shed, and as kids, we use to play there (if only I would have known then ). The next year it was gone... He had given it for free to somebody...
