Items for my '64

Post by miller »

Hey folks,

Considering my recent purchase I am still some time off starting the resto on my '64 but wanted to start putting the feelers out there on the parts I know I am missing.

2 x front indicators. Complete assembly, lens and bezel

2 x foot well vent doors

Happy to trade or send money via Paypal. Obviously US sellers must be prepared to ship to Oz ;)

Cheers, Miller

Would you have a rear tail light for a 69? I have two complete front turn signal assembly (glass lenses) and I believe the correct vent doors as well for the older model (have to check to see if there is a difference). I am also looking for a reverse light, door pull, hazard flasher knob, rubber bumper from hood, spare waterproof distributor cap, right fender mirror head and any other cool stuff.

Yes, there is a difference- pre- 68 side vent doors are totally flat, and 68-69 side vent doors have a recessed center section. I imagine your 67 has the correct ones

and, the inside mounting tabs on the two different vent door styles are also different- so they are not interchangeable :|

Hi platecual. Do you have a picture of the lights that you have? Do you have a Steel plate to fasten it? (I am attaching pictures)

I dont think i have a spare, but i will double check when i get home. Is that the only thing wrong with that piece, the bolts are broken? Those can be drilled out carefully and new ones tac welded on.

He is using my pictures for reference. Raul is in Colombia and does not have the part. He needs the plate to finish off his original lights on his restored early Patrol.

69 Patrols in Aus. didn't have the USA spec front and rear lights. As far as I know, it was a US spec only thing, maybe Switzerland too. Rob is making some rear 69 lights, lens only though.

The tail light pictured is from a '67 and earlier, with the glass lens. So is the backing plate pictured. Does Raul have a '69? If so, and he has the glass style tail lights, then apparently other countries continued to get the glass tail lights after '67.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Seems like every picture of a South American patrol I've seen that had the round marker or tail lights, they always had the 2-screw style, Koito lamps with the plastic lenses...?

Same as the USA and other countries. Glass up to 67, then the plastic rounds until the mid-to-late 70's when the rear lights went below the body in a rectangular 3-light set up. Again, only the USA/Canada got the 69 style lights, front and rear. Switzerland was a fairly heavily regulated country early on so they may have got them too, or any other countries that had stiff department of transportation regs.

Cheers
