New member looking to upgrade to a Patrol!!

Post by Marshall »

Hi Guys!
I recently have fallen in love with the Patrol! I (had) an '89 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62, and recently someone pulled out in front of me, and we had some "slight" contact. (T-Bone)
Here's my truck:

Here's the 2015 Toyota Highlander:

I had the truck for a year, I bought off an old college friend. He and I chopped the top off to make it an open air cruiser, (also to prevent the top from falling in due to rust!).

I was on the way to fixing her up, when I got in the accident. Insurance deemed it a total loss, so after some thought, (and the amount of rust on the undercarriage), I decided to let her go to the grave.
Now I have fallen in love... with the Nissan Patrol 60 Series! So I am moving up and looking to purchase one. I have been trolling the internet nonstop since I found out this was the truck for me. So, any help on my quest for this dream truck would be greatly appreciated. I live in Los Angeles, but am a native East Coaster. I'm open to traveling for the right truck to pick it up and trailer back. I am hoping to find a hard top for around $6,000 - that's mostly solid running-wise, and I can give it some TLC for the aesthetics and shine. It'll be our family off-road truck to head down Baja for our camping trips. Thanks in advance for any leads!! Looking forward to joining the Patrol Family!

Welcome to 60Patrol! :text-welcomeconfetti: Sorry to see that your Cruiser died such an untimely death. :auto-crash: Hopefully no one was hurt, other than vehicles. But yes, what a great opportunity to go to the Patrol side. :D

Keep an eye on Craigslist. You just missed one that would have been perfect, the red one in CO. It was underpriced for its condition. Decent ones show up on eBay sometimes, but usually they are at the upper end of the price market. Our classifieds section here is pretty active also.

Keep us posted. We'd be happy to give you an opinion on one that you might be considering.

Great, thanks RiverPatrol! I was watching that red one in CO, (but still waiting on my insurance check in come in). I've been talking to another guy in CO as well who has owned 18 Patrols over the years and is selling all five that he owns now. I'm looking at his '64 that he bought from the original owner in 2005. It has 25,000 original miles on it. He's also got all the manuals which I hear are hard to find. He's asking $6K for it. He also has a full engine rebuild for it, which I may buy as well to have the parts. He said the interior seats would need reupholstering, but other than that it's runs great and ready to go. He is taking some pics today for me and I'll post them up to get some feedback from you guys - thanks!

Welcome to 60Patrol!

good luck with the Colorado connection... Hope it works out for ya -

Here is a pretty nice, complete 67 (with aftermarket A/C even 8-) ) for sale at a very reasonable price, about 10 minutes away from me (and a lot closer to you than Colorado, ;)

I would be happy to go take a look at it, and do a full mechanical check-out on it for you. PM me if you are interested...

Hey Moore - Thanks so much for the scouting offer, I would absolutely love it if you could go and take a look at that truck for me! :D I've been eyeing that truck all week and contacted the owner already. It looks the best fit for me out of the ones I've seen thus far. I did see that AC unit added on there. Also there is a roll cage that got added as well, although it says in the ad it's a "factory roll cage." I'd be interested in your take on that cage as well after having a look at it.

Thanks again for the generous offer, can't wait to hear back how it looks!!
