Enjoy all the extra trips to the petrol station ...
If I was worried about fuel economy I would have bought a Prius. I'll be interested to see the numbers though. Its only a 253 so might not be too far off the ol P

If you decide you want to export that "extra" Marks5 to the US, you know who to call, right...? :text-callme:
Open to offers mate.

Short term plan: Repair front shock mounts and cross member. Tidy up rust spots and have brake issue fixed.

The longer term plan will be to put a seat in the back so the family can come along. I have another soft top frame so I will put this on too and put a full cage in it when funds allow.

This is the perfect rig to drive and enjoy off road.

Slightly jealous here 8-) nice buy.
Long term keeper?

burning question, how come mr muck sold her? :?

I doubt the ecconomy of the 253 would be any worse than the p motor. But at least its a very easy swap to drop in a 308 motor and get a bit of power (the 250 crossy in hermit was no slouch though, so i dont see why the 253 wouldnt be better than that at least :D )

have a mwb g60h ute sitting here waiting to have a few weeks in the shed. Has an ex race boat 308 motor in it. Well externally it looks like a 308, but i have a hunch its been stroked and tweaked
its going to become a 4x4 styleside rat rod look alike eventually........ecconomy?? Yeah it helps the ecconomy alright.....

Yep at this stage its a keeper.

Muck just wasnt getting any use out of it. It spent most of its days just sitting around so he though it time to move it on.

I LOVE the V8. Spent yesterday tearing up and down the street. I dont think I'll ever get sick of the sound and it pulls bloody hard too.

Good stuff Tim, Mr Muck did a nice job on that Patrol, you must be stoked to have her. I recall on Simo trip Darren and I were getting similar fuel figures. He was driving light but I dont reckon the 253 is any worse then a P motor.

:D similar power, more torque, and would have to be about the same on fuel. The old holden motors go quite well on lpg too.....low comp ratio

and as i said, if you must have more grunt then the 308 drops straight in

sounds like you scored big time ;)

cheers

I like the soft top set up on this rig...

Have fun.

Got an exciting phone call this morning. It appears my panel and paint guy can start to paint Mr Muck at the end of next week!!!! Originally it was scheduled for early December! So now I need to strip it down and choose my colour. A few late nights ahead!
Thinking white or blue...

Made a small start last night.

Step 1: Shuffle G60's

Step 2: Ziplock bags and marker

Step 3: Pick up the screw driver and go for it!

Well life really gets in the way sometimes hey!? I am very behind in getting the ol girl off to paint but have been taking some extra time to correct/change/tweak a few things along the way. You know, do it right do it once... Or some crap like that??

The car is 98% stripped. I removed the bullbar and winch tonight but before I did that I cut off an existing antenna mount and welded 2 new Ruff Stuff mounts on. One will be for sand flag and the other UHF radio. The Ruff Stuff mounts look clean compared to the plate that was on it. Pretty happy with how my welds are coming along too. Still need a little work but I got a good run on.

Out with the old..
