Im still keen, still working on the car and the wife( either one could throw a curve ball at any time) but hopefully im back on track after a crazy few months

SWMBO has recinded my leave pass and advised all money and time must be directed at the house, she has spoken (as much as I want to go, she is right, but I never said that)
The likelyhood of me taking a G60 is ZERO, I have the brother in law staying with us for the next 3-6 months and he's a builder, so every spare minute and dollar will go on the house (while the BIL is here). If I can get a leave pass I will only know 3 months before and will only have a GU to go in
Wish I had better news, but I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Hi Gentlemen,
I would very much like to join you and am working to that end. I own three G60 Patrols and am having one readied for the trip. I can't say yet with certainty that I can join you but I am doing all I can to make it happen.
Two questions if I may:
1. Do we have a decided route to the most Northerly Point and if so is the decided route likely to be over grown. I ask because one of the patrols has just been painted and I won't bring it if the local vegetation is going to destroy a new paint job?
2. Is a snorkel a demanded item, meaning no snorkel - no joining the trip? None of my vehicles have a snorkel however the air intake is high on top of the carburetor just under the bonnet and thus if this was to take in water the vehicle would already be full of water and possibly submerged.
I am hoping a snorkel is not an essential item.

To answer your questions...
1. Yes the route north has been determined. The Cape is forever changing. What is clear one year could be over grown the next. Saying that, there is a lot of traffic heading up the Tele Track so for the most part it will be clear. I would be more worried about panel damage that could occur from extremely deep rutted sections. 2. I would be inclined to say a snorkel of some sort (even temporary) is mandatory. There WILL be water crossings that will be over bonnet height.
At the end of the day it's up to you. Personally I simply wouldn't risk it.
Ferdy and I have been discussing snorkel options. There are some alternatives to permanent set ups

One a one in a life time trip, that small amount of money is insignificant for the experience excitement long life memories that are to be achieved.
Really if you seriously think about it is the money to be spent on a occasion like this have any influence on your overal life , I think not

I understand most folks with old G60's here in Aus don't really want to be taking a 40 year old Vehicle Bush Bashing, that's understandable now that the old Girls are getting rarer each and everyday but, as Ferdy Said its a Lifetime Experience. I would of loved to go, but as most know the 66' Patrol is currently a bare Chassis waiting for some Proper TLC.
Some May be concerned about cutting holes in Panels, I know some of you guy's have pretty original and tidy examples of these oldies, but for a one off trip, go to the Wreckers, Find a Bonnet for a G60 (Don't Worry about rust its not going to be on there forever, just find something sorta Roadworthy) and modify it to run out of the corner Air Vent Hole, Fabricate a mount to use inner guard hardware to mount it, run it up the side of windscreen, Make a Mount of windscreen Hinges/Brackets and your Laughing, and water in the Cab is all part of the fun
