Valve stem seals umbrella shaped p/n needed

i have tried the positive stop and they just get ripped apart before finding out the valves need to be machined. i have tried the rubber comp cam p/n 502 and they just seem to ride up the valve allowing oil to seep down. Does anyone have a recommended aftermarket p/n that would work?

Have you tried contacting Motor Power? They're the ones that sell the gasket sets, maybe they have something.

The positive stop seals in the picture are from them. I contacted them and they told me they do not set the rubber anymore and I would have to machine the valves. Out of luck here.

I'm having trouble understanding the picture. Are those seals in place not working due to interference with the valve actuating?

At the beginning, P engines only had rubber type seals (deflector seals) that fit loosely over the guides. Later on (maybe 70s?) they started putting valve seals like the one in your picture (positive seal) at the intake valves. And then they started fitting them on intake and exhaust.

I've never had any trouble fitting the positive seals in my 65. In other words, the valve guides were always the same design.

I might have some valve seals in an open gasket set. Not sure, but I can check tomorrow (not at home at the moment). Knowing the dimensions I'm sure some replacement ones could be found.

yes the seals are interfering with the valve actuating and are being crushed. My patrol is a 67, i had rubber ones on before but since they hardened and cracked i needed to replace them. I called Motor Power Inc and this is what they sent me. I have tried from Summit Racing the Comp Cam 502 rubber seals and they just keep riding up the valve allowing oil to stream down. If you have positive seals in your 65 perhaps the ones that Motor Power sent me are incorrect, if you have a picture of how they fit that would be greatly appreciated.

the valve guide measures .59 in, i have not any luck finding any that will fit

I just got back checking my opened gasket set. No valve seals there.

I'm going to write to member Pancho in Ecuador (he sold his Patrol a few months ago) to see if he can source the seals over there. I'll let you know.

In any case, the regular deflector seals are a good option, since the P engine is not known for oil consumption. I guess that they'll be easier to source.
